The Connecticut Children’s Research Institute is getting the word out about Research! 🎉 Take a listen to this quick overview presentation by Carol Ortega, BSN, RN, and Kim Harris-Eaton, MSN, PMGT-C on the project titled, “Pain Pals: Experience of Siblings of Pediatric Patients with Chronic Pain.” Chronic pain affects 1 in 5 children around the world which impacts their mood, school attendance, social life, and family function. However, little is known regarding the experiences of siblings of children with chronic pain. Congratulations to Dr. Ching Lau, MD, PhD for being awarded a $500,000 grant from the Brain Tumor Funders’ Collaborative. In collaboration with The Jackson Laboratory, Dr. Ching Lau is working to establish a cerebrospinal fluid-based liquid biopsy platform for brain tumors, which would allow physicians to diagnose rare tumors. The Brain Tumor Funders' Collaborative is supported by organizations such as the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, the American Brain Tumor Association, the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, the National Brain Tumor Society and more!
