About us

StrongHer is an award-winning employee network at Nokia committed to championing gender diversity in the technology sector. Born out of passion and the need for change, StrongHer was launched in 2011 by six dedicated female employees in France. Ever since the network has grown impressively, with more than 3,000 members from over 70 countries spanning across all five continents. Our Vision is to make Nokia a company where women get the same level of opportunities as men and are well represented in all business domains and functions. As a proud Nokia ERG (Employee Resource Group), StrongHer stands at the forefront of promoting gender diversity within the company. With over 12 years of relentless work, advocacy, and commitment, this volunteer-led network has matured into a pivotal asset for Nokia, addressing Gender Diversity and Inclusion challenges in the Telecom and Information Communications and Technology Industry. StrongHer contributes to women’s empowerment, helping them unleash their potential and magnify their business contribution; and with that StrongHer aims to move the needle further in the direction of equal opportunities for all. We are not just a network; we're a movement. StrongHer offers: • Networking Opportunities to connect, grow, and inspire. • Personal Development sessions to unlock and magnify the potential of our members. • A Think Tank focusing on leadership and management. • Exposure to diverse Role Models for both women and men, extending business contacts within and beyond the tech industry. At StrongHer we believe that it’s not just the 'glass ceiling' that needs addressing but a multitude of explicit/ implicit barriers that women face in various phases of their lives and careers. Although, women are outnumbered in the ICT sector, StrongHer believes that no woman should feel like an exception or be isolated. With the collective strength and dedication of our members, we are reshaping perceptions about gender and talent.

  • Women’s Equity Day, observed on August 26th, commemorates the transformative milestone of women gaining the right to vote in 1920 with the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution. Since then, women globally have made remarkable strides towards equality. In the past century, women’s participation in the workforce has grown significantly, with a rise from 23.6% in 1920 to 57% today. Educational attainment has soared, with more women than men earning bachelor’s degrees in recent decades. Moreover, women now hold 28% of CEO positions in Fortune 500 companies, compared to negligible numbers in the early 20th century. In the last decade, progress has accelerated with movements like #MeToo catalyzing conversations on gender equality and workplace safety. Women’s representation in politics has also increased, with a record number of women serving in Congress and other legislative bodies globally. At StrongHer, we are committed to amplifying this momentum. Our initiatives focus on creating supportive networks, mentoring, and providing resources that empower women to excel in their careers and personal lives. By fostering an inclusive environment, we aim to bridge the gap in industries where women are underrepresented, such as STEM and telecommunications. Looking forward, challenges remain, including the gender pay gap and underrepresentation in certain industries. However, initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion are gaining traction, suggesting a more equitable future. By continuing to advocate for policies that support women’s advancement and addressing systemic barriers, we can strive towards a future where women of all backgrounds have equal opportunities to thrive and lead. #StrongHer #Equity #DEI

  • In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, StrongHer India, focused on gender inclusion, led a vibrant and impactful series of events across all India locations — including Gurgaon, Noida, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Chennai (Pacifica, TVH, and Factory). Under the global theme “Accelerate Action”, the celebrations aimed to enhance women’s empowerment, visibility, and engagement across the organization. A variety of engaging initiatives brought employees together to reflect, participate, and drive awareness. Activities included a Stepathon wellness challenge, where employees took steps—literally and figuratively—toward a healthier future, and a blog-writing campaign showcasing inspiring stories of women overcoming challenges. Interactive games focused on identifying and addressing unconscious gender bias encouraged self-reflection and dialogue, while sessions featuring external speakers, as well as Nokia India’s Market Head and Country Management Team (CMT) members, added depth and leadership commitment to the celebrations. With enthusiastic participation on our internal social media channel on Viva Engage, the campaign reached nearly 9,000 employees, creating a truly pan-India ripple effect of awareness and inclusion. Pre- and post-IWD events at each site added continuity and depth, reinforcing StrongHer’s mission to build a more equitable workplace. These efforts reflect Nokia’s ongoing dedication to our inclusive and thriving workplace culture making this IWD not just a celebration, but a call to action to accelerate change.
