We are proud to announce the successful completion of the first cycle of the Kathu Solar Park Internship Programme in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. Ten young graduates from Kathu, Kuruman, and Deben have completed their internships, with three already securing permanent employment! This milestone demonstrates the real value of combining technical training with community-focused development – preparing graduates to thrive in the renewable energy sector while also making a difference locally. Among the graduates was Olorato Setlholoeng, a Chemical Engineering Intern at Kathu Operations (KOPS), who shared: “The internship gave me the chance to apply what I had learnt in a real working environment. I’ve gained confidence, practical skills, and a clearer sense of the career path I want to follow. It has made a big difference not only for me, but also for my family, who are very proud.” With the success of the first cycle, we are excited to open applications for the second intake. Featured in our first newsletter of 2025 is the inspiring story of Gabriel Wolfson, a newly qualified Mechanical Engineer from the University of the Witwatersrand.
