#SFDR: A major step forward for impact investing in Europe Impact Finance Belgium (IFB) welcomes the European Commission’s proposal to revise the SFDR and, for the first time, explicitly recognise #impactinvesting within the EU’s sustainable finance framework. The proposal introduces three new product categories: ➡️ Sustainable Products, ➡️ Transition Products and ➡️ ESG Products. Only the first two categories will be able to claim the “impact product” designation. This provides a clear regulatory home for impact strategies within the EU framework. 🌱 This marks a significant milestone: ✔️ Impact investing is officially recognised as a distinct practice in EU legislation. ✔️ Investors gain more clarity and confidence, with transparent expectations on intentionality, measurement, management and reporting of impact. As highlighted in our joint statement, this dedicated space within the Sustainable and Transition categories creates the right foundation to scale impact investing and mobilise capital where it matters most. 🤝 At IFB, we celebrate this important progress. We remain fully committed to engaging with Belgian and European institutions to ensure the final text maintains strong provisions for impact and supports the growth of meaningful, outcome-driven strategies. A decisive step forward for Belgium’s and Europe’s impact community ! Pierre Harkay Wendy Braeken Solène Collin Frédéric Madry Maxime Desmarets

"Few conversations make impact finance as tangible as hearing a social entrepreneur and an impact investor speak openly about building impact together — and that’s what made today's session so powerful." A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at TheMerode for a session that brought the practice of impact finance to life through an open dialogue between Lou Garagnani (Le Monde d'Ayden) and Gaetan Herinckx (Phitrust), moderated by Pierre Harkay, IFB CEO. The room brought together a diverse audience across finance, non-profit, and entrepreneurship who kept the conversation honest, curious, and highly interactive. 1️⃣ Setting the Stage: What Impact Finance Really Means Our CEO, Pierre, opened the session by grounding everyone, from seasoned investors to newcomers, in the fundamentals of impact finance. He clarified what the term encompasses, how it is evolving, and what emerging trends are shaping the way capital engages with societal challenges today. 2️⃣ Two Perspectives, One Shared Mission: Entrepreneur × Investor The fireside-style conversation was the highlight of the event: - Lou Garagnani, founder of Le Monde d’Ayden, shared how she builds inclusive, sensory-rich spaces for children with neurodevelopmental differences — a mission rooted in empathy, design, and community engagement. - Gaëtan Herinckx, Partner at Phitrust and an early investor in Le Monde d’Ayden, offered the investor’s view on how patient, impact-first capital supports entrepreneurs like Lou in shaping their vision, strengthening their model, and scaling their impact responsibly. 👉 Their exchange showed that combining financial return and social impact is possible and can reinforce each other. A warm thank you to TheMerode, to our speakers, and to everyone who contributed to this insightful exchange. Pierre Harkay Solène Collin Wendy Braeken Frédéric Madry Maxime Desmarets

🎥 Belgian Impact Week aftermovie! Two weeks ago, the Belgian Impact Day brought together the full breadth of our impact finance ecosystem — investors, funds, institutional, policymakers, and impact entrepreneurs — to explore what it means to invest in a new reality. Here’s a look back at the energy in the room, the keynotes, the conversations, and the collective ambition driving our community forward. In the video, our CEO Pierre Harkay and Vice-Chair Celine Vaessen reflect on the success of event. They highlight two key messages: 1️⃣ IFB’s ambition to scale investments with positive impact to 30% of Belgian assets under management by 2030 2️⃣ The importance of ensuring a diverse ecosystem of actors working together to achieve this goal 🌱 The new realty is challenging, but the event left us with renewed optimism and a clearer sense of what we want achieve together. Impact investing is no longer a “superniche.” That’s the message we shared in Trends, highlighting the growing maturity of Belgium’s impact investing landscape – and the findings unveiled during Belgian Impact Week 2025. 💬 “There must be a clear correlation between financial and societal returns. Both need to rise,” says our Chair Steven Serneels. With 14% of managed assets in Belgium now going towards sustainable and impact investing, momentum is building fast. Institutional investors, banks, and insurers are increasingly integrating sustainability into their strategies – showing that doing good and doing well can go hand in hand. From renewable energy to circular economy ventures, the range of opportunities is expanding, and new impact funds continue to emerge both in Belgium and abroad. At IFB, we’re proud to see the sector gaining visibility – and to help shape the conversations on how finance can accelerate solutions for people and planet. 🌍 KOIS Francois de Borchgrave Degroof Petercam KBC Bank & Verzekering Triodos Bank BNP Paribas Ageas Group Belfius Insurance Ethias ImpaktEU Helpper Inclusio SA
