I have two messages. One is on the importance of customer service, especially during peak season, as well as the importance of giving back, if one is able. "Tis the season", as they say and there has never been a more important reason to exceed customer expectations since many consumers are shopping now and may not return for a year (like me). Thanks to the generosity of X5 Management, I was excited to buy children's gifts for a great cause. In my wisdom I decided online shopping was the most convenient, and I could simply pick up my truckload of toys on Monday. So I spent an hour carefully selecting items for the suggested in need age range, and upon checkout, this big box website was not working. I called their customer service number to be told, "it must be the busy day we are having so just keep trying to check out". I did just that, until I couldn't since my order disappeared! Then I decided to try another big box competitor, and once again I spent an hour carefully selecting items for an age range, and without an issue was able to check out. Although I was not pleased there was a "handling fee" of $56.00 and a mandatory minimum delivery driver tip of $50.00 (picking up my order myself was not an option). Then an email popped up telling me there was an issue with my order, and it had been cancelled. I was invited to try again. Seriously? I realized my only option was to show up in person and truly the last thing I wanted to do on Black Friday weekend. But I decided to try a smaller competitor who was offering a good sized Black Friday discount, as well as a volume discount. Thank you Mastermind Toys for your well-organized store, exceptional help, and quick check out process (plus free huge reusable bags)! And you even offered to wrap my items for free (I think there were around 50 boxes)! Christmas is for everyone, but especially for children! Thank you Mike Mack, MBA for giving back to the little ones in need at this important time of year! Lenora Thomas
