Nyx’s structural test model is up and moving to the next build step. In the photos the heart of the load path takes shape. The vertical pieces are the shear webs, which will attach to the pressurized compartment and carry primary loads. The white base is our ground support equipment (GSE). It aligns the shear webs, supports them during integration, and serves as the test jig when we pressure test the pressurized compartment. Our team verifies every operation with a laser tracker to hold millimetre-level alignment. That gives us clean data now and reduces integration risk later. Next step is integration of the pressurized compartment on the jig, followed by structural and pressure tests. The oxidizer pump of our cryogenic lunar engine #Huracan was successfully tested across its operating domain in liquid nitrogen, only a few weeks after commissioning our new test bench at our facilities in Bordeaux. Performance, endurance, and heavy duty tests achieved target pressures and efficiencies. Next steps are set. The fuel pump is being integrated for liquid nitrogen tests, and the oxidizer pump is scheduled for liquid oxygen testing in January 2026. After a successful campaign this autumn we are glad to share a concrete milestone on Nyx roadmap. We poured in house our first #ZURAM thermal protection tiles and used it to drive industrialization ramp-up. ZURAM is a ablative carbon-phenolic thermal protection material developed in collaboration with German Aerospace Center (DLR) for atmospheric reentry. It uses a rigid, highly porous carbon fiber preform that is impregnated with phenolic resin, which cures into an aerogel-like matrix. This architecture gives low thermal conductivity while the ablative char layer handles peak heat flux during entry. After small-format trials, we stepped up to representative 600 by 600 millimeter plates. Those are now in characterization with non-destructive, thermal, mechanical, and plasma tests to lock the recipe with data. The line is the outcome of a structured competence transfer with DLR. We learned their artisanal process and re-engineered it for rate and repeatability so it can feed flight production. The target is clear: qualify the industrial tool by end of January 2026. The front shield alone needs about 80 tiles, so the system is sized for scale. This work is part of a broader push to make Europe’s capsule capability real and repeatable, with support from European Space Agency - ESA through the #GSTPFramework. During the last test campaign in Bordeaux, we tested a #resonanceigniter, an innovative ignition system that uses acoustic resonance from an underexpanded jet of propellants impinging on a cavity. When the parameters are tuned, the interaction drives strong pressure oscillations inside the cavity. Those oscillations heat the resident gas until it can ignite the chosen fuel-oxidizer mix, without spark plugs, glow plugs, or torch igniters. The campaign did what we needed it to do. We built internal know-how on the device’s working principles, tried alternative geometries, and compared ignition strategies. The data now feeds a second iteration aimed at integrating this igniter into the combustors of our high-thrust engine program. On the heels of European Space Agency - ESA historic Ministerial commitment to Europe’s space transportation future, it is encouraging to see the United States equally focused on strengthening commercial capabilities in low Earth orbit. I endorse the Commercial Space Federation’s call to support the nomination of Jared Isaacman for NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Administrator and will be following this week’s hearing closely. Sustained global collaboration is essential for exploration, science, and security. Jared’s track record in commercial spaceflight, disciplined program execution, and commitment to innovation align with the needs of a rapidly evolving transatlantic ecosystem. These qualities will matter for all actors working to build resilient and affordable access to space.
The Commercial Space Federation (CSF) applauds the nomination of Jared Isaacman to serve as NASA Administrator. As China seeks to challenge American space superiority at every turn, Jared has the vision, experience, and grit - the “right stuff” - to lead NASA during this critical time. CSF also thanks Secretary Duffy for his service and leadership at NASA, and for his focus on returning U.S. astronauts to the Moon. NASA is lucky to continue to have a thoughtful and seasoned leader at the helm while Jared’s nomination is considered by the Senate.

A few weeks back we started long-range #LiDAR acceptance tests with Jena-Optronik GmbH at the Flugplatz Jena-Schöngleina to validate sensing for ISS-style docking. The setup was simple by design: fixed peripheral docking targets at the far end of the field, and a car driving an approach from about 1,200 meters to roughly 300 meters to emulate a closing trajectory. This let us watch how the sensor resolved targets across the final-approach envelope and how the data flowed into our flight software. In the upcoming days, the Jena-Optronik GmbH team will be on site to support integration and to deliver a second unit. We will consolidate datasets, refine the interface, and repeat the approach with tighter profiles and varied target layouts. In the LiDAR snapshots, the two bright points you see at several hundred meters are the peripheral docking targets used for this sequence. We are proud to share that The Exploration Company has been awarded the Consolidation Phase contract by European Space Agency - ESA for #INSPOC-1 Phase B2 within the #FutureSpaceTransportationProgramme. InSPoC-1 focuses on the capabilities that make in-space logistics possible: in-orbit rendezvous, docking and propellant transfer between spacecraft. These capabilities are essential to ESA’s future in-orbit refilling infrastructure. Phase B2 will refine system designs, integrate industrial inputs and prepare for the in-orbit demonstration planned for 2028, which will perform a full sequence of rendezvous, docking and refilling.
