An old tradition has returned to spread festive joy in our headquarters: the Christmas concert with our very own brass band, the Danfoss Orchestra, which is still in tune after 70 years. Our founder, Mads Clausen, took the initiative to form the orchestra in 1955 when the company reached 1,000 employees. Today, we have more than 39,000 colleagues globally, and while both the world and Danfoss continue to transform, our DNA remains the same. Last year, our Chairman Emeritus, Jørgen Mads Clausen, inspired us to reintroduce the Christmas Concert because the Danfoss Orchestra, one of the oldest continuously playing company orchestras in the world, is part of that DNA. This year, we were fortunate to have him introduce the orchestra himself at our headquarters campus, just a mile from the farmhouse where his father founded Danfoss. #Danfoss #DanfossOrchestra #DanfossMoment

The water and energy systems are interconnected — yet we continue to treat them as separate systems. By 2030, global demand for freshwater could exceed supply by 40%. And still, in many countries over 30% of all water is lost before it ever reaches the consumer. Every drop wasted also means wasted energy. This is not just a climate issue. It’s a competitiveness, security, and economic resilience challenge. Every drop wasted is energy lost — and an opportunity missed. To close the gap between ambition and reality, we urge governments and policymakers to take an integrated approach to the water-energy nexus. That means acting on four fronts: 1️⃣ Minimize water loss: Set national targets to cut water loss, and invest in proven technologies for leak detection, pressure management, and smart metering. 2️⃣ Embed energy efficiency in water policies: Set data collection requirements, integrate water efficiency into energy audits and establish national industrial water reuse targets. 3️⃣ Incentivize digitalization: Fund digital solutions that provide real-time data on energy and water costs to improve transparency and drive informed efficiency decisions. 4️⃣ Make water count: Promote decentralized, efficient, and fit-for-purpose water supply and reuse solutions to boost resilience. 💧 Now is the time to scale existing solutions to strengthen human well-being, increase climate resilience, ensure economic security, and accelerate industrial competitiveness. Inefficient water production and consumption are draining the world’s fresh water — and wasting huge amounts of energy along the way. We need to start treating water and energy as interconnected systems, not separate challenges. The technologies to make both more efficient already exist — what’s missing is scale. In this short interview, Judith Neijzen, Head of Analysis at Danfoss, highlights the urgency of addressing our water and energy consumption: demand is growing but we keep on wasting both critical resources by overlooking inefficient use of energy in the water system, and water in the energy system.
