Net Zero Digital Energy Hubs are integrated systems where data centers are are part of local energy development, heat reuse, grid balancing, and backup power in a coordinated ecosystem. In May 2025, the Hub joined #DataCentersDenmark in Copenhagen to discuss how we can innovate and collaborate in the journey towards Net zero. Alongside fellow panelists Christopher Eckerberg (Google), sébastien Cruz-Mermy (Schneider Electric), and Knud Erik Andersen (European Energy), Alberto Ravagni discussed: How can data centers be part of the solution as AI is accelerating energy demands? 💡Throughout the month of December, we’ll be sharing highlights from an eventful 2025 for the Hub.

💡Data Centers as grid assets, heat reuse ready solutions with and without district heating, and clean back-up solutions. In February 2025, the Hub went to Amsterdam for a Net Zero workshop and Kickstart Europe Conference, where the Hub members presented innovative solutions which will be integrated in pilots Neil Anderson and Google hosted the Net Zero workshop, which covered alot of ground, including heat reuse, scope 3 and clean energy backup. The workshop included inspiring talks by Thomas Parker (WA3RM), Frederik Rugaard (Høje Taastrup Fjernvarme), Piotr Kowalski (PLDCA - Polish Data Center Association), Drew Turner (Danfoss), and Alan Agurto Goya (bp). 💡Throughout the month of December, we’ll be sharing highlights from an eventful 2025 for the Hub. Alberto Ravagni kicked off 2025 in Abu Dhabi for World Future Energy Summit where he joined an inspiring panel discussion on "Managing the Environmental Footprint of Data Centres" at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. In the panel, which was expertly moderated by Isabel O'Brien panelists Zainab Alamin زينب الأمين, Pierre Cheyron (ENGIE), Alicia Eastman (APC Investors), and Dr. Shamma Al Malek (Department of Energy Abu Dhabi) had dynamic exchange of ideas, discussing how a collaborative approach de-risking innovation is needed to manage growth and environmental footprint of data centers. #WFES2025

⚡ Energy for AI, AI for Energy ⚡ Two of the core themes from this week's High Level meeting in Brussels with, among others Henna Virkkunen, Dan Jørgensen, and Net Zero Hub CEO Alberto Ravagni. The encouraging news: Laura Cozzi (International Energy Agency (IEA)) confirmed that AI applied to energy systems can save more energy than it consumes. It's a strong signal for Europe’s digital and sustainability ambitions. At the same time, improving Europe’s AI competitiveness will require fast progress on several priority areas: ✅ Grid integration & flexibility ✅ Net Zero digital energy hubs ✅ Colocation of data centers with renewables ✅ Short- and long-duration storage ✅ Hydrogen & clean fuels ✅ Heat reuse Innovative & effective collaboration will be key. Collaboration on regulation and policy was represented by The European Data Centre Association - EUDCA (Lex Coors, Michael Winterson, Linda Lescuyer) Collaboration to scale-up innovation is the role of the Net Zero Innovation Hub. The Hub is the place to execute projects to derisk technologies at scale with Danfoss, Data4, Microsoft, Google, Vertiv, Schneider Electric. Let’s work together to drive a sustainable, competitive data center industry in Europe! Bernard Gustin (Elia Group), Marie CHABANON (Data4), Vincent Verbeke (Energy Market - ENGIE Belgium), João Claro (INESC TEC), Yoann Bersihand (Schneider Electric), Barbara Wittenberg (1KOMMA5° )

Join this webinar to hear Nadine AUBINAIS LANFREY & Chloé de Bethmann (INOCEL), Brice Fourney (EQUANS ), and Thomas Volder (Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers explain how hydrogen and fuel cell systems can support clean, resilient, high-performance data center operations. ⏰ today 16:00 CET
AI is growing faster than the energy system can handle. And almost nobody is prepared for what comes next. AI data centers are becoming some of the largest energy consumers on the planet - so large that many companies now build full-scale power plants right next to their facilities. We’re talking 100 MW up to 1 GW. That’s not an energy challenge. That’s an energy revolution. Most of these sites still rely on natural gas - but that’s not carbon-neutral. So the big question is: How do we power AI with zero emissions? In this webinar, Nadine AUBINAIS LANFREY & Chloé de Bethmann (INOCEL), Brice Fourney (EQUANS), and Thomas Volder (Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers) will explain how hydrogen and fuel cell systems can support clean, resilient, high-performance data center operations. What you’ll learn: ✔️ How data centers are built and why AI changes everything ✔️ How much energy modern AI workloads really need ✔️ What a zero-emission data center design looks like ✔️ How hydrogen and fuel cells support clean backup and fast response ✔️ Why hyperscalers are pushing decarbonization faster than ever ✔️ How real-world hydrogen-powered data center solutions already work today Date: Wednesday, November 19 Register now for free: www.mission-hydrogen.com #MissionHydrogen #Hydrogen #DataCenters #AI #CleanEnergy #FuelCells #Decarbonization
