🌍 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐄𝐀𝐂)! The EAC has officially approved regionally harmonised Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and labelling requirements for room air conditioners and residential refrigerators—a major milestone for sustainable refrigeration in Africa. Developed collaboratively by six Partner States (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda), these standards promote energy efficiency and the use of low-GWP refrigerants, aligning with regional efforts in SADC and paving the way for national implementation within six months. This achievement was made possible through the support of UN Environment Programme United for Efficiency (U4E), East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE), and UNIDO. After 2.5 years of construction, this cutting-edge 31,000m² facility brings together 350+ 𝐑&𝐃 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 working on low-carbon heating and cooling solutions for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It features advanced testing capabilities, including: ✅ EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) testing ✅ Water-circuit test rooms ✅ Dedicated spaces for natural refrigerants and low-GWP alternatives In July, Daikin, Ghent University, and the City of Ghent signed a 2-year Memorandum of Understanding to explore pilot projects. 🌱 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲: 𝐔𝐩 𝐭𝐨 91% 𝐆𝐇𝐆 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 In a new study published in Cell Reports Sustainability, IIR Junior Member Dr.-Ing.
