Last week at #CERAWeek, I had the opportunity to join an insightful discussion on Energy and the Future of European Security, alongside Laurent Ruseckas, Maxim Timchenko, Laura Lochman, and Jovita Neliupšienė. As Europe continues to navigate its energy transition, here are my three key messages: - More LNG is coming – let the market do its work. The global LNG market is expanding rapidly, with the U.S. and other countries playing a crucial role. The best approach is to let markets function efficiently, sending the right signals for investment and diversification. Europe, including Uniper, is securing supply by building strong partnerships across the globe. - Gas-fired power plants are essential for security and transition. Germany and Europe need significant new gas-fired capacity to ensure security of supply, while transitioning to a hydrogen-ready future. Policymakers must create frameworks that provide investment certainty, ensuring capacity is available when needed. - Reducing methane emissions requires transatlantic alignment. Decarbonizing gas production and transport is critical, but regulations in the U.S. and EU must align to avoid unnecessary costs and complexity. A coordinated approach will ensure progress without driving up consumer prices. As energy markets evolve, collaboration between industry, policymakers, and global partners remains key. 🎉 A major step forward for Small Scale LNG in Italy! Proud to announce AXPO's contribution to the successful commissioning of the new Small Scale LNG service at the OLT FSRU Toscana terminal. With this milestone, the Terminal becomes the first in Italy to offer LNG loading and unloading for small-scale LNG carriers – paving the way for marine bunkering and coastal distribution across the Mediterranean. This achievement marks an important contribution to the decarbonization of the maritime sector, especially following the recent designation of the Mediterranean as a Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA). Using LNG and BioLNG as a fuel significantly reduces emissions of CO₂, SOx, NOx and particulate matter. A heartfelt thank you to the OLT OFFSHORE LNG TOSCANA and Avenir LNG teams for their great collaboration and commitment. One TechDays are always the time of year when #innovation navigates across the TotalEnergies💡 Hosted this year by TotalEnergies OneTech Belgium 🇧🇪 (TOTB), our research center dedicated to polymers and catalyst, the June 25-26 event gathered nearly 400 engineers and researchers from the different entities and geographies of the Company. On show were more than 80 laboratory workshops and project presentations to highlight our latest technological innovations. All R&D fields were covered, presenting a diverse array of topics, including a new model for bio-feedstock pretreatment for biofuel, as well as improved plastic circularity with fast pyrolysis process and last results on CO2 conversion for SAF. The One TechDays play a key role in opening doors and windows to stimulate innovation and bring people together around the new technical and scientific solutions for our various businesses, helping TotalEnergies boost its operational performance and push innovation ever further.
