Garuda Aerospace Private Limited Launches Drone Battery Unit Garuda Aerospace Private Limited, following the successful launch of its #defencedrone facility, hosted Dr Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, Director General, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), for the inauguration of its new #DroneBatteryManufacturingFacility in Chennai, on January 7, 2026. This landmark occasion underscores Garuda Aerospace’s commitment to strengthening India’s indigenous and #selfreliant #droneecosystem. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Bharat Drone Udaan event associated with Bharat Drone Association at Garuda Aerospace Private Limited Operation Centre. Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO, Garuda Aerospace Private Limited, said, “Over the last 10 years, #GarudaAerospace has been in agriculture technology and has evolved into India’s largest #dronecompany, having manufactured over #3000drones and trained more than 2,500 drone pilots. We were the first company to be approved by the #DGCA for both #dronemanufacturing & training and the first drone company whose clients received the first-ever #AIFdroneloan. It is heartening to see the practical impact of progressive Government initiatives and policies coming to fruition, including schemes where women’s self-help groups were provided agricultural drones to enhance livelihoods, the SMAM drone subsidy scheme, and #ProductionLinkedIncentive for boosting #indigenousmanufacturing. Our progress would not have been possible without the regulatory support and guidance of the #DGCA, the Ministry, and officials who have supported the ecosystem. Strengthening India’s defence with indigenous drone innovation. Garuda Aerospace partners with BEL to build mission-ready UAS for the nation. The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation wherein BEL will act as the Team Leader and Lead Bidder, while Garuda Aerospace will serve as the Technology and Teaming Partner. The collaboration aims to leverage BEL’s extensive experience in defence electronics, system integration, and programme execution, together with Garuda Aerospace’s capabilities in advanced drone design, manufacturing, and deployment. The partnership reflects a shared intent to develop and deliver indigenous, mission-critical unmanned solutions aligned with the evolving operational requirements of India’s defence and internal security ecosystem, while supporting the national objective of self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. To take this collaboration forward, the parties will enter into a separate Teaming Agreement at a subsequent stage.
