Removing invasives, removing carbon!

About us

Tivano tackles the degradation of Namibia’s savannahs caused by bush encroachment by removing and burying invasive plant species before they can release significant amounts of CO2. We capture carbon at the source by sequestering biomass in sealed underground vaults, monitored in real time to guarantee long-term environmental integrity. This approach delivers durable carbon removal but also supports the ecological restoration of the savannah, making the land once again viable for use for local agricultural activities. In addition, we generate employment and stimulate regional economic activity to benefit local workers, farmers, and infrastructure development. Join us at Tivano to help reduce global emissions and move your company closer to net zero.

PROJECT NEWS 🔍🌍 How does modern gas detection make climate protection measurable? With reliable gas detection devices from MSR-Electronic, which Tivano uses in its CO₂ removal project in Namibia. In the "Dragonfly" project, bush biomass is sustainably harvested, processed and stored in a low-oxygen carbon vault. This binds CO₂ in the long term and at the same time restores species-rich savannah landscapes. 🌾🦓 The first CO₂ certificates have already been successfully sold by Tivano. To ensure that this process remains safe and verifiable, MSR-Electronic supplies central gas detection solutions for the MRV system: Methane (CH₄) – Continuous measurement of methane values Carbon dioxide (CO₂) – Concentration monitoring Oxygen (O₂) – Monitoring of low-oxygen conditions Seamless data collection confirms stable, dry storage conditions and proves long-term CO₂ sequestration – an essential component of the project's success. Early warning system for: CO₂ enrichment, CH₄ emissions, O₂ deficiency. 📈Result: Modern gas detection is becoming the key to making climate protection transparent and reliable – and to bringing Namibia's savannah back to life. www.tivano-carbon.com www.msr-electronic.de info@msr-electronic.de We are part of the MSR-Group GmbH. #Gasdetection #GasWarningSystems #MSRElectronic #Tivano #CarbonRemoval #CO2Removal #ClimateProtection

🎉 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗳𝗣 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗗𝗥 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 🎉 At remove, we're all about helping our startups thrive in the CDR market and that includes opening doors to procurement opportunities! For the last couple of years, we have been co-developing RfPs with mission-aligned partners for CDR purchases exclusively for and from remove startups and alumni. This time, we teamed up with VP Capital to make some magic happen! ✨ VP Capital is committed to accelerating positive impact. And they recognize the necessity, feel the responsibility, and believe in the opportunities that sustainable progress offers to make a positive impact. They enable this progress, by contributing to much-needed solutions, both on an ecological and societal level. Our team helped VP Capital develop a contribution claim strategy, design a great RfP, and manage applications from our startups based in the Global South. The focus? High-impact, scalable, verifiable CDR solutions that deliver real co-benefits for communities and ecosystems. After rigorous evaluations and interviews over the last few months, VP Capital has finalized their decision. With that, we're thrilled to announce that three startups from our community have been selected as the winners of this RfP. 🚀 👏 Huge congrats to:  • Tivano pioneering biomass burial in Namibia  • VERMIFAM LTD: Bugesera Worm Farm and Vermicomposting Production Initiative creating impact with biochar in Rwanda  • UrjanovaC Pvt Ltd scaling up DAC technology in India This is one of the various ways we strive to continue supporting our startups long after they complete our programs. Special thanks to Mark Schravesande and his team from VP Capital for making this possible. Are you interested in taking climate action and running a similar process for our fantastic portfolio of teams? Drop us a line at info@remove.global

  • Great story by FSC on Namibia’s bush encroachment problem: thorny bushes replacing golden grasslands. At Tivano, our biomass storage ensures that even the least valuable parts of the bush are put to use and CO2 remains permanently removed from the atmosphere.

While deforestation often makes global headlines, Namibia faces a different challenge. There are simply too many acacia bushes in the country. Invasive species are disrupting ecosystems and threatening vital habitats for wildlife. Through selective bush harvesting, local farmers help restore the natural balance of Namibia’s savanna - supporting biodiversity and preserving the landscape.
