About us

NSML was incorporated as a private limited liability company on October 9, 2008 and started operations in 2010 as a ship manning company. NSML has evolved from a purely manning company into an international maritime services company providing a wide range of top-notch maritime and shipping services which include – manning, fleet management, training, terminal management, maritime consultancy and project management; hence a change of the name of the company to “NLNG Ship Management Limited”. Crew Management & Administration As a member of the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC), NSML provides crew management services to vessel owners, vessel managers and charterers. We attract the brightest professionals across all cadres onboard our vessels. We operate a multicultural fleet of officers including Nigerians, British, Croatians, Russians, Indians, Malaysians and Filipinos. “ Fleet Management NSML ensures top quartile practices are implemented for the effective and proactive management and operation of LNG and LPG vessels to the highest possible standards of safety, reliability and efficiency. The NSML Technical Management ensures that vessels within the fleet are operated in compliance with the Flag State, Port State, National/International legislative requirements, as well as to be best in industry standards in line with the NSML Integrated Management System (IMS). We possess substantial experience with new build projects having been involved with delivery of various new build vessels from design stage through construction to final delivery. Maritime Centre of Excellence The Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE) is a “one-stop” maritime training, research facility established to improve the quality of maritime expertise in Nigeria, West Africa and around the world. Terminal Services NSML offers professional terminal management and related marine services to the highest industry standards of HSE and quality.

  • NSML @ the 2025 AMJON Conference NSML was a sponsor and a participant at the 2025 Annual Conference of the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON), which held at the Sheraton Hotel Ikeja, Lagos. The MD/CEO of NSML, represented by the Manager, Finance and Corporate Services, Mr. Mutiu Olayiwola, delivered the keynote address on “The Evolving Global Maritime Regulatory Environment”; highlighting the role of maritime training and NSML’s Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE) in bridging the industry’s skills gap.   • UK MCA ACCREDITS NSML -MCOE COURSE The UK Maritime Coastguard Agency (UK MCA) approved NSML-MCOE’s application to deliver the Human Element Leadership and Management - Management (HELM- M) programme at the Maritime Centre of Excellence training centre in Bonny Island. This brings the number of accredited courses for the MCOE by the UK MCA to three (3) in the last one year, a testament to NSML’s growing reputation as a foremost maritime centre of excellence in Africa. The UK MCA, whilst being a foremost maritime regulatory body, its maritime courses accreditation is the "gold standard" for maritime institutions globally.   NSML, via the MCOE, will continue to pursue the accreditation of its maritime courses offerings as part of its long-term strategy to be the foremost maritime training institute in Africa.

  • On November 5th, 2025, AKTORAS, crewed and managed by NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML), responded swiftly to a distress call from the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre. A kayaker, stranded for over 24 hours and located 27 nautical miles south of Bermuda, was spotted by our vigilant crew. With professionalism and courage, the team onboard AKTORAS deployed immediate rescue efforts, bringing him safely onboard and ensuring his reunion with loved ones, with support from the US Coast Guard. At NSML, we are immensely proud of our crew for embodying our core values of professionalism, teamwork, excellence, and care.   • NSML organised the 2025 Fleet Officers Conference in Abuja from Monday, 3rd – Friday, 7th November 2025 in Abuja, FCT. The theme of the conference was “Navigating the Talent Seas – A Strategic Approach to Seafarer Lifecycle Management”. The conference brought together Nigerian and international fleet officers for a week of strategic dialogue, focused learning, impactful innovation, and constructive collaboration.
