Over ons

Oceans, seas, lakes and rivers offer growing possibilities in the areas of trade, food, energy and recreation. To ensure global prosperity for next generations and keep the earth habitable with an ever-increasing population, it is essential to utilise and protect these possibilities as efficiently and responsibly as possible. Damen provides unprecedented maritime solutions for this, through design, shipbuilding, ship repair and related services. We offer versatile platforms that enable our customers to be successful and that raise the standard in terms of safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability. We want to become the most sustainable shipbuilders in the world. In the previous century, we revolutionized shipbuilding. Thanks to standardisation, we were able to supply our customers with better ships, faster. More than 90 years and 6,500 ships later, the importance of standardisation is only increasing in the light of zero-emissions and digitalisation. We do not build our ships alone, but together with an extensive network from the international maritime cluster. We firmly believe in the power of sharing. It means that we also use our craftsmanship to build platforms on production facilities that are not ours. In this way, through knowledge transfer, we not only contribute to better, safer and more eco-friendly ships, but also to sustainable local development and prosperity. We are a family owned business and stand for fellowship, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and stewardship. Our playing field is the world. Our horizon is the long term. We firmly believe in our team, but also in the strength of the individual. Each colleague is an entrepreneur, focused on ensuring truly satisfied clients and making our contribution to a better world. In every aspect of our business the next generation is our starting point.

  • We are pleased to announce our recent contract with the Qatar Emiri Naval Force (QENF) for the delivery of two ASD Tugs 3212. The announcement was made at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) 2026. The order is the latest in a long-standing relationship with the QENF that began with the delivery of six PolyCat vessels back in 1980. These latest tugs are being equipped with a range of options to enable their support of the Qatari naval fleet in port and offshore. We are looking forward to our continued cooperation with the QENF, which is set to continue long after the vessels are complete. We will deliver ongoing support comprising simulation and on-site training in the operation of the tugs and a five-year maintenance and spare parts package. #Damen #ASDTugs #DIMDEX

  • 𝗙𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲? 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝘁. The long, slender hull shape tells you right away – you’re looking at a Damen vessel. The performance confirms it; quick comfort, robust reliability, outstanding fuel efficiency. The Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2206 is able to transport up to 42 personnel, together with ample cargo, at speeds above 30 knots. With its waterjet propulsion, the vessel places the operator in total control, ensuring excellent manoeuvrability and safe, straightforward bow landings. It is, in short, a vessel designed to deliver the needs of today’s offshore energy industry with a minimum of fuss. #Damen #OffshoreEnergy #FastCrewSupplier

The Combi Freighter (CF) 5000 has been “a perfect blend of challenge, collaboration and growth,” says Lisanna P., responsible for aftersales and service at Damen Cargo Vessels. The CF 5000 represents the latest generation of Combi Freighter, optimised for maximum cargo capacity and efficient performance. When the first in series was commissioned, Lisanna had the opportunity to travel to the yard in China to experience the vessel first-hand. “Being onboard during manoeuvres gave me a deeper appreciation for my colleagues’ resourcefulness. The project has also been a learning curve in adapting to new regions; with the vessel now active in the Mediterranean, our service approach is expanding beyond the familiar waters of Northern Europe. As we also developed an ICE class version of this vessel for the even cooler regions, I am looking forward to seeing this vessel sail all kinds of waters and servicing them in their operation.” #Damen #MyFavouriteProject #CombiFreighter

  • We recently delivered three new tugs for the fleet of the FAIRPLAY TOWAGE Group. The RSD Tug 2513 Fairplay-98 and ASD Tug 2312 Fairplay-86 were delivered direct to the towage company. ASD Tug 2312 Fairplay-87 was delivered to Neue Schleppdampfschiffsreederei Louis Meyer and will join the Fairplay Towage fleet on a long-term charter. The vessels form part of the Fairplay Towage Group’s fleet renewal programme – together with a number of other Damen vessels. With this, the company is seeking to increase fleet efficiency. The vessels feature our NOx Reduction System – a compact selective catalytic reduction system that reduces emissions by 80% in line with IMO Tier III requirements. Following delivery, we will continue to support the vessels from our Hamburg Service Hub. #Damen #ASDTug #RSDTug

A milestone that reflects our commitment to greener maritime solutions. Our latest work on Disney Fantasy included advanced bulbous bow replacement, a key upgrade that reduces water resistance, cuts fuel consumption, and lowers emissions. Combined with efficient propulsion systems and biocide-free coatings, these refits help cruise operators boost performance while supporting sustainability goals. With one of Europe’s largest dry docks and a skilled team, we’re proud to help the industry navigate towards a cleaner, more efficient future. • 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 Since 2023, we have committed to preserving some of the iconic vessels from our history with the Damen Heritage Fleet. Vessels like Reiger - the mail boat, responsible for delivering post in the tidal wetlands of the Biesbosch - Jonge Prins III, and GV71, each with its own story and unique place in Damen heritage. These vessels are not static museum pieces - we actively sail them, sharing their stories with colleagues, clients and enthusiasts, highlighting Damen’s role in Dutch shipbuilding through the years. With this fleet, we connect past and present, showing that true quality lasts, and keeping Dutch maritime heritage alive. #Damen #DamenHeritageFleet #MaritimeHeritage

  • 𝟮𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘅𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘁! Recently, at Delft University of Technology, a plaque was unveiled honouring the achievements of Lex Keuning. Lex dedicated a large part of his career to performing research into ways to improve seakeeping on high-speed ships. Among his significant achievements was the development, in 2001, of the distinctly Damen ship feature – the Axe Bow. Allowing the vessel to slice effortlessly through the waves with a minimum of slamming, the iconic bow vastly improves onboard safety and comfort while lowering fuel consumption and emissions. Sadly, Lex passed away two years ago. However, thanks to the Axe Bow Fund that he set up – proudly supported by Damen – his legacy continues. Today, the innovation fund is helping to pave the way to innovations that contribute to a safer, more sustainable shipping sector. #Damen #AxeBow #Innovation
