We’re proud to share that Larne Port – owned by P&O Ferries – will soon welcome a new route operated by The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. Starting in 2026, the Ben-my-Chree will provide three weekly sailings between Larne and Douglas, creating fresh opportunities for connectivity and growth.   This development reinforces Larne Port’s role as a strategic gateway in the Irish Sea and reflects our commitment to supporting regional growth. We look forward to working alongside the Steam Packet team to make this route a success and to strengthen links that benefit communities and businesses on both sides of the water. • 🌍 Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity 🌊   Today marks United Nations' World Maritime Day, and this year’s theme – “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity” – is a powerful reminder of the maritime sector’s unique role in shaping a cleaner, more resilient future. In alignment with this theme, and to support UN Global Goals Week, we’re continuing the conversation on maritime sustainability with the release of our latest video.   Our latest video features Andrew Stevens, our Corporate Sustainability Manager, who shares P&O Ferries’ future roadmap for sustainability and how we’re working to meet our climate goals.   From transitioning to biofuel b30 on the Pride of Hull, to aligning with the EU FuelEU Maritime regulation, our journey is guided by a commitment to reduce emissions, protect marine ecosystems, and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals – especially SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).   Watch the video to learn more about how we’re navigating this transition and what’s next for P&O Ferries. #WorldMaritimeDay #GlobalGoalsWeek #Sustainability #POFerries #OurOceanOurObligationOurOpportunity

The move builds on P&O Ferries’ carbon savings of over 135,000 tonnes through hybrid ships and fleet optimisation.

Ferry company P&O Ferries switches PRIDE OF HULL to biofuel PRIDE OF HULL is the first ferry on the Hull–Rotterdam route to run permanently on lower-carbon biofuel. The vessel now operates fully on Biofuel B30, following successful trials. The 215m ferry carries 1,360 passengers and 400 freight vehicles. Biofuel B30 cuts lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by about 20% compared with traditional marine fuel. The move helps P&O Ferries comply with the EU’s FuelEU Maritime regulation, effective January 2025. The decision follows consultation with Wärtsilä and fuel suppliers. Biofuel B30 was chosen as the most practical solution, requiring no costly conversions. This transition builds on previous carbon savings of over 135,000 tonnes from hybrid deployment and fleet optimisation.

P&O Ferries Pride of Hull is now a little prouder. She’s become the first ferry on the Hull > Rotterdam route to permanently run on Biofuel B30, cutting lifecycle emissions by around 20%. At 215 metres, carrying 1,360 passengers and 400 freight vehicles, she’s essentially a floating small town, one that now has a smaller carbon footprint. No costly engine overhauls, no futuristic fuels, just a practical switch with Wärtsilä and fuel partners that keeps trade moving and carbon shrinking. The P&O Ferries fleet director said "meaningful emissions reductions are possible today.” In other words, you don’t have to wait until 2050 to start cleaning up your act.
