𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚-𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 ⚓🚢🏗️ Ambassador of Canada Nicholas Brousseau 🇨🇦🇧🇪🇱🇺🇪🇺 met last week with Cas König, CEO of North Sea Port, to discuss the growing partnership between North Sea Port and five major ports in Quebec: Port de Montréal, Port de Québec, Port de Saguenay, Port de Trois-Rivières, and Port de Sept-Îles. In January 2025, the Canadian and Belgian ports signed a cooperation agreement aimed at intensifying trade relations and promoting knowledge exchanges on energy transition and innovation. Since then, the ports have been actively engaging on a wide range of diverse issues, including decarbonisation, critical minerals and new opportunities for collaboration. Canada is also now ranking 2nd trading partner of North Sea Port for 2025 🌟 In the afternoon, Ambassador Brousseau, joined by Embassy’s trade team members Angela Dark and Alexane Hervy, participated in a networking boat tour of North Sea Port organised by CanCham BeLux. It was a great opportunity to see the diversity and economic importance of the companies operating across the port the area, and explore new areas for Canadian and Belgian companies to work together. Een mijlpaal voor de energietransitie in North Sea Port! ⚡ Vandaag mocht ik aanwezig zijn bij de officiële kick-off van “Mufasa” in het Sloegebied, North Sea Port. Een indrukwekkend batterijproject van Return, ontwikkeld door onder meer Arno Hendriks en Jeroen Althoff. Hun verhaal over ondernemerschap en pionieren is een prachtig voorbeeld van hoe visie leidt tot realisatie. Tijdens het event kregen we een uniek kijkje achter de schermen van dit grootschalige batterijproject. Wat maakt Mufasa zo bijzonder? ✅ Eén van de grootste batterij-energieopslagsystemen in Europa. De grootste van Tesla ter wereld! ✅ Opslagcapaciteit: 1.400 MWh ✅ Opgesteld vermogen: 350 MW ✅ Het project levert een cruciale bijdrage in het verminderen van netcongestie en staat niet op kostbare havengrond. ✅ Door samenwerking met partijen als TenneT is het project zeer snel tot realisatie gebracht. De verwachting: operationeel in de eerste helft van 2027. Dit is een belangrijke stap richting een robuust en duurzaam energiesysteem. Trots dat North Sea Port een spil is in deze ontwikkeling.
