Enabling learning by simulation

Over ons

VSTEP is a leading innovator in maritime simulation technology, enabling learning through solutions that enhance training effectiveness, cultivate essential skills, advance safety, and promote sustainability. Since 2002, VSTEP’s innovation and deep maritime expertise have transformed how academies, fleet owners, port authorities, and navies prepare for the challenges of modern seafaring. Our simulation solutions span navigation and ship handling, inland radar and fairway operations, towage and escort, and bridge training, so maritime professionals and organizations have the tools they need to succeed. By recreating vessel hydrodynamics and environmental conditions with fidelity, our simulators allow learners to practice critical manoeuvres, experience emergency scenarios, and strengthen decision making in safe, realistic environments. Through learning by simulation, VSTEP helps the maritime world learn faster, work safer, and operate more sustainably.

Simulation of Inland Navigation and Emergency Response

Suit off, running gear on! Not everything at IITSEC is business talk. Yesterday, early morning, I had the chance to represent VSTEP Simulation in the 5K run, starting right in front of the exhibition hall. A great way to kick off the day — and even better to connect with industry peers outside the usual expo setting. And the best perk? Crossing the finish line just in time to catch a beautiful sunrise. #IITSEC #Networking #5KRun #SimulationIndustry #MorningRun

  • @Workboat Show Day 1 is officially underway here in New Orleans!  Sometimes the journey gets rough...literally. On its way to the event, our Portable Simulator had a much rougher trip than expected. We build our Portable Simulators rough and tough, but they are not indestructible! Here’s a look behind-the-scenes at yesterday’s build-up day and how the team reacted with resilience and adaptability so the show can go on.  📍 If you’re here, stop by booth 2953 to meet them, hear their story and talk about enabling learning by simulation.  #IWBS25 #Maritime #MaritimeInnovation #MaritimeTraining #TrainingTechnology

  • Don't miss us at @IITSEC!  From the morning walk to the venue, to time at the booth, to sharing insights on stage it’s been a great week for our team. Tije Vos and Luuk ten Bergen have been holding down Booth 267, meeting visitors and sharing insights from the field. A highlight was Tije’s session on Innovation stage titled “Bridging the Gap: Remote Operation Simulation Training”;  The technology for remotely operated and uncrewed vessels is advancing faster than the people and processes needed to run them. The real readiness gap is human competence. Simulation is one way that bridges this gap. If you haven’t stopped by yet, we'd be happy to continue the conversation or get to know you #IITSEC #MaritimeTraining #SimulationTraining

We are getting ready for I/ITSEC 2025, which will take place from 1 to 4 December in Orlando! As we return to the world’s largest event dedicated to training, simulation and education technologies, we look forward to engaging with peers, partners and innovators from across the global simulation community. Our team members Tije Vos  and Luuk ten Bergen will be at Booth 267 throughout the week. They are there to learn from the latest research, exchange insights, explore new ideas and strengthen relationships that help move our maritime industry forward. They will also be sharing the latest developments in our simulation solutions and how these technologies support more effective learning across a range of maritime domains. Simulation continues to play a vital role in preparing people to operate safely and effectively in complex environments. Events like I/ITSEC bring together the organisations and experts who are shaping the next generation of learning technologies, and we are proud to contribute to these discussions. ! If you are attending, come by Booth 267 to connect with us ! We look forward to meeting you and exploring how we can advance learning through simulation together. #IITSEC2025 #SimulationTraining #MaritimeSimulation #MaritimeTraining

  • We are returning to the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans from 3 to 5 December. This annual event brings together the people, ideas and technologies that keep the workboat industry moving. Our team members Ritchie van der Ziel, Alexios Riccardo Limnios and Olakunle Afolayan will be at the VSTEP booth 2953 throughout the event. They will connect with operators, shipyards, training providers and other industry professionals to explore how simulation can support safer and more effective workboat operations. As we continue our mission of enabling learning by simulation, we look forward to sharing how VSTEP maritime simulation solutions can support crew training and operational readiness, and to learning from those who are driving progress across the sector. If you are attending, visit the VSTEP booth 2953 to meet the team and join the conversation on advancing workboat training and maritime safety. We look forward to seeing you in New Orleans. #WorkBoatShow #SimulationTraining #MaritimeTraining #LearningTechnology #Workboats #IWBS25

  • From Simulation to Salvation: VSTEP Supports Life-Saving Work at Sea! ⚓️ Today our Chief Commercial Officer, Tije Vos, is taking on a major challenge at Captain of Sales. This full day event brings together professionals who compete through pitches, assignments, and creative teamwork to raise support for a remarkable cause. The KNRM, the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution, depends on this support to carry out rescue operations across Dutch coastal areas and the larger inland waters. At VSTEP we are dedicated to advancing maritime safety through learning by simulation. The KNRM volunteers are the real-world heroes who put this training into practice. They respond to emergencies at sea and on inland waters and demonstrate the real world value of preparedness and professional competence. As we follow Tije’s progress today we celebrate the link between effective training and real world impact.   We wish Tije and the other volunteers every success in the competition. Every donation helps the KNRM volunteers continue their critical, life-saving work! • Advancing maritime education in Jakarta. VSTEP and STC Next have come together in Jakarta for an engaging seminar and workshop focused on strengthening maritime education through the power of simulation. Today, we met with school leaders, instructors, and officials to explore how modern simulation technology can elevate learning outcomes for future maritime professionals. We aim to support maritime schools as they integrate realistic and innovative simulation tools into their curriculum. Early access to immersive training helps students build practical competence, confidence, and readiness before they enter the industry. Today’s workshop is an encouraging step toward a stronger and more skilled maritime workforce in Indonesia. We look forward to continued collaboration and to enabling learning by simulation across the region. #SimulationTraining #MaritimeEducation #Training
