Sondre Nærland got back from Paris, where he attended a seminar hosted by MDS - Le Matériel de Sondage, where they brought together experts in non-destructive testing to share insights, technology updates, and new tools in the world of NDT. 👉 Some of the highlights: 📌 It was interesting to listen to Grace Preston from Geophysical Survey Systems, Inc. (GSSI), who shared the history of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) technology, along with what’s coming next. 📌 In general, we were happy to meet so many skilled NDT specialists from the French market, where non-destructive testing is truly well established and delivering real value to clients every day. 📌 And of course, it was exciting to see MDS’s newest addition to their NDT portfolio — the small but powerful EasyCorr corrosion mapper, developed by MDS themselves. 🚇 If you’ve ever travelled to or went through Oslo, chances are high you’ve passed through this place — Oslo S, the busiest railway hub in Norway. And recently, we had the opportunity to carry out a test concrete scanning project right there. We’ve been working with Bane NOR, the main owner and developer of the Norwegian railway infrastructure, on a demo concrete scanning assignment at Oslo Central Station. As part of upcoming upgrades (including the installation of new elevators to the platforms), our task during this test run was to scan selected concrete pillars, beams and surrounding structures to map rebar and assess the existing construction. 💬 “Birdsview carried out a test for concrete scanning at Oslo S. This can potentially save us a lot of uncertainty related to the existing structures when performing work at the station. Based on how much information we received in the short time they worked, this looks very promising.” — Øystein Løvdal Knutsen, Engineering Design Manager. Over the last week, we’ve been busy in a best way possible, attending two important events: Slush and first-ever European Pitch Day, hosted within Recotech Finland Having 13,000+ attendees, with 6000 startup founders, and 3,500 investors, Slush is one of the most energetic and founder-focused tech events in the world. Being surrounded by this much innovation is always inspiring. Recotech is one of Europe’s leading events for innovation in construction and real estate technology. Here we took part in the Construction Startup Competition 2025 final — an amazing gathering of startups and industry leaders working to reshape the future of construction. 🚇 We keep exploring new places to scan, and this time, we are deep under Oslo! Earlier this week, we were down at Stortinget Stasjon, one of the busiest subway stations in the city, which is now undergoing renovation. Together with Dr.techn. Olav Olsen AS, we scanned sections of the concrete structure to show how we can build a 3D model and place the rebars directly inside it. 💬 This project location was new for us, and that’s exactly what we love about our work: every place is different, and every scan tells a new part of the story.
