    Buklod Center and Nagkakaisang Kababaihan ng Angeles City (United Women of Angeles City or NAGKA, for short) are both non-profit organizations founded in 1987 and 1990s respectively, by survivors of violence against women, human sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. I have been involved with Buklod and NAGKA since the 1990s. I currently serve as a member of its Board of Advisers. With 2011 as the Global Centenary Year of the International Women's Day, this year's The Bayi Citation celebrates the women's movement in the Philippines by paying tribute to its pioneers and leaders whose contributions and sacrifices brought women to politics and governance.
