For championing digital inclusion and digital bayanihan through the Tech4ED-DTC Project, PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. have been recognized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology - Philippines at the National Tech4ED Awards held in Clark City, Pampanga. The National Tech4ED Awards 2025 feted Tech4ED Centers and DICT Digital Transformation Centers (DTC), Center Managers, and beneficiaries across the Philippines for their outstanding achievements and contributions. It also highlighted the significant strides achieved through the Tech4ED-DTC Project in improving digital literacy and enhancing e-governance to bridge the digital divide in communities nationwide. Leading the awarding ceremonies were DICT Usec and Chief of Staff Atty Fay M. Condez-De Sagon, Atty. Leandro Angelo Aguirre of the DICT-ICT Industry Development Bureau and Asec. Celine A. Dee, Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns. PLDT and Smart, represented by Stakeholder Engagement Lead for Livelihood, Internet and Media Safety and AI programs Kristine Magadia and Luzon Engagement Head Joy Lapuz, also helped award special connectivity packages containing smartphones, Smart Home Wifi units and Smart Prepaid load to winning DTCs. This recognition is the latest milestone in PLDT and Smart's longstanding partnership with the DICT and part of the Group's commitments under the DTC Initiative, a program initiated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Cisco to enhance digital literacy skills in underserved communities. Started in 2019, the DTC Initiative is already in 15 countries worldwide and is implemented in the Philippines by DICT under their Tech4Ed program. Directors, advisory board members and officers of companies led by Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan gathered at the 2025 Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Session held at Meralco Theater to explore how the MVP Group can embrace change and harness artificial intelligence to optimize decisions and boost business growth. The session, titled “Decision Intelligence and Supercreativity: Leading in the Age of AI” featured as speakers global experts Cassie Kozyrkov, Google's first Chief Decision Scientist, and innovation advisor James Taylor, who shared insights on how AI can unlock new possibilities for leaders and organizations. PLDT Director and Chief Operating Officer Menardo G. Jimenez, Jr. delivered the welcome remarks to open the session. A special panel moderated by PLDT Public Engagement Group and Corporate Communications Head Roby Alampay also featured a dynamic discussion among Kozyrkov, Taylor and industry leaders Blums PINEDA, PLDT Enterprise Business Group Head; Rocky Bacani, MERALCO Information, Communications, Technology and Transformation Head and Kayana Solutions Inc. Chief Technology Officer; and Angelo Madrid, Maya Bank Director and President, on how AI is reshaping industries. Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan closed the session with a message reinforcing the Group’s commitment to innovation and industry leadership in the age of artificial intelligence. PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc., the Department of Education (DepEd), and Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF) sign a memorandum of understanding for the nationwide implementation of the Dynamic Learning Program. DLP is a teaching methodology designed to keep learning going even during times of crisis. Central to the program are its handwritten learning activity sheets, which help students break down complex concepts into bite-sized lessons. For more than a decade, PLDT and Smart have been helping expand the program's reach. Leading the ceremony are Education Secretary Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara, CVIF-DLP Founder Dr. Christopher Bernido, PLDT and Smart Chairman and CEO Manuel V.
