"Speed is life" - and nowhere is that more true than in wildfire management. Yesterday at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos I joined an incredible panel titled "Can Trees Tame the Flames?" with Celeste Saulo (WMO), Josef Aschbacher (ESA), and François-Ghislain Morillion (Veja) and moderated by Aileen Lee (Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation). The numbers are staggering: 6 gigatonnes of CO2 from wildfires annually. $45 billion of damages from the LA fires alone. And when utilities go down, entire communities are left vulnerable, with significant knock on economic impact. The hard truth? We spend far more on recovery than prevention. Even in utilities and asset-intensive industries, most systems are still reactive. What struck me most: ESA's satellite data with onboard AI detecting fires in real-time is free and accessible globally. Yet many utilities don't have complete visibility into their own critical infrastructure - the very assets that need protection most. At IFS, we see this gap every day. Utilities need real-time asset intelligence combined with predictive AI to shift from response to prevention. The technology exists. The data exists. We just need to connect the dots faster and act on what we know. #Davos #WEF26 #IndustrialAI #SpeedIsLife
