We were proud to host the SWITCH Consortium meeting in Trollhättan, that brought together project leadership from GKN Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, MTU Aero Engines, Airbus, Collins Aerospace, and several leading universities and institutes. SWITCH focuses on advancing hybrid-electric propulsion technologies. More specifically, we aim to demonstrate a hybridized Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engine in ground tests and prepare for future flight testing. This work supports the development of component technologies for a future hybridized second-generation GTF, targeting entry into service in 2035 for next-generation single-aisle aircraft. Key areas of innovation include hybrid system integration, advanced heat exchanger technology, and multifunctional lightweight structures. GKN Aerospace is leading efforts in electric engine structural integration, while GKN Fokker contributes with high-voltage AC electrical wiring systems. The SWITCH project is supported by the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking and its members. Special thanks to Project Coordinator Christoph Niebling and Project Officer Pierre DUREL. #gknaerospace #makingthingsfly #partofthesolution
