Economic growth is my number one mission. That's why over the past year we have cut unnecessary red tape, tasked regulators to focus on growth, and launched the Financial Services Growth and Competitiveness Strategy to strengthen retail investment culture. These measures are delivering results, such as recent IPOs from Princes Group, Shawbrook, and Fermi America on the London Stock Exchange. Global investors continue to back the UK. It was great to join Lazard CEO and Chairman Peter Orszag and UK CEO Cyrus Kapadia to discuss their commitment to the UK, as well as the strengths of the UK financial services sector, employing millions across the country.

Businesses back Britain to succeed. Great to welcome Aegon UK, NatWest Cushon, and M&G to Number 11 today as they enter the final stages of approvals to contribute an initial £200 million of investment in cutting-edge British businesses. This follows the launch of the British Growth Partnership Fund I launched last year, a new vehicle for pension investment in venture capital. This investment builds on UK strengths in key growth areas identified in our Industrial Strategy, from clean energy and fintech to life-changing medical technology, helping businesses scale up, stay British, and create skilled jobs across the country. My number one priority is economic growth. By unlocking investment in Britain’s most exciting sectors, from science and technology to clean energy, we’re backing the businesses that will power our future, deliver well-paid jobs, and put more money in people’s pockets.
