  • This OT Week, teams across our rehab services have come together to highlight the vital role Occupational Therapists play in supporting recovery, independence, and wellbeing. Newsam Ward 5 kicked off the week with educational displays and a ‘Coffee and Connect’ outing, while Asket OTs facilitated safe discharges, supported volunteers, and even hosted a baking group to celebrate Bonfire Night. Our community-based allotment group, in partnership with Season Well, has empowered service users through growing, cooking, and sharing nutritious meals — culminating in a Halloween celebration that brought everyone together. Community OTs from CREST, Recovery Centre, and AOT proudly presented their work at the Leeds City-Wide OT Conference, showcasing how we help individuals rebuild meaningful lives beyond hospital walls. Across all services, we’ve reflected on our shared purpose: enabling people to do what matters most to them. #OTWeek #OccupationalTherapy #MentalHealthRecovery #RehabilitationServices #AHPs #CommunityCare #LeedsHealthcare #Wellbeing

  • “With love and pride, we remember and honour the sacrifice of those who gave their lives so that we might live ours in freedom. As a veteran and a member of Op COURAGE, I hold Remembrance Day close to my heart.” Estelle Hodgson. Estelle is a Veteran Liaison Support Officer for Op COURAGE - the NHS Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (North of England Team). On Tuesday 11 November, the Trust will mark Armistice Day with services led by its chaplains. Estelle served in the Royal Navy for five years and was deployed on HMS Albion. Her job is now to work directly with former armed services personnel who may be struggling with their mental health and would benefit from accessing Op Courage services. Studies from the UK show it takes between four and 14 years for veterans to reach out for help if they are struggling. Op COURAGE can support veterans and their loved ones with mental health issues if they have ever served in or are due to leave the UK armed forces. • Staff at Red Kite View and St Mary’s Hospital are now able to use vehicle (EV) chargers, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener future. This investment supports greener travel choices and helps reduce carbon emissions across the Trust. And there’s more… We’re also part of the Great British Energy solar panel programme, with solar panels coming to our St Mary's House site, helping cut energy bills and reinvest savings into sustainability priorities and service user care. Dawn Hanwell, CFO & Deputy Chief Executive said: “The solar installation will reduce our use of grid electricity and is estimated to provide around 15% of our annual energy consumption for the site. This will help us reduce our carbon footprint and contribute towards decarbonising our estate in line with our Green Plan.” Full story on our website – link in the comments.
