About us

The aim of our work is to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives. We have faith and optimism in our clients and so the services we deliver are built around their needs. Leeds Mind promotes positive mental health and wellbeing, and provides help and support to those who need it. We offer many services, including: counselling, group therapy, social support, peer support, self directed support, social prescribing, housing support, employment support, suicide bereavement support, and mental health training. 1 in 4 people experience mental health difficulties at some point in their lives. Whether that be depression, anxiety, stress, self harm, personality disorder, bereavement or any other negative mental health experience, Leeds Mind are here for you.

What a brilliant day yesterday at our Leeds Mind end of year service management team away day. We took the time out to reflect on the year’s successes, challenges and hopes for the future. Days like these remind me of why I love what I do, being surrounded by passionate, interesting people motivated to change the lives and mental health of our communities for the better. This year was a big change for me, leaving another brilliant organisation after many years and starting a complete fresh. After hearing in detail yesterday how every single one of our services has absolutely transformed the lives of others, I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together in 2026. 🎉

White Ribbon Day is the 25th November, with us celebrating 16 days of activism against gender-based violence from yesterday to 10th December. I was shocked to learn that last year, 47% of all our safeguarding cases included some form of gender-based violence and/or abuse. Whilst White Ribbon Day is a campaign primarily aimed at men, we each made a pledge on how we can collectively address these harms both in and outside of work. We also took time to praise the positive male role models in our lives. Mine was my brother, who alone raises two sons and two daughters to have equal aspiration, demand equal respect, and advocate for his teen girls against gender-based harm, which he unfortunately has had to do on numerous occasions already. At 9 years my senior, I remember countless times he did the same for me. This work is so important and requires all of us to step up and challenge concerning and harmful behaviour wherever we come across it. #WhiteRibbonDay #LeedsMind #VAWG

  • 25th November is White Ribbon Day, the international awareness day to prevent violence against women and girls from White Ribbon UK. The campaign calls on individuals, communities, and organisations – especially men and boys – to take a stand. As a mental health charity, we get involved because we know the impact that gender-based violence and gender inequality have on people’s mental wellbeing. On White Ribbon Day, everyone is invited to make the promise: I will never use, excuse or remain silent about violence against women. At Leeds Mind, we are holding sessions this week for our team to learn more about what Leeds Mind is doing to combat sexism, find out about what other action is happening in Leeds, and make our own pledges. By speaking up, we create a culture where respect and equality thrive. #WeSpeakUp #WhiteRibbonDay #TeamLeeds
