𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗽 83%. 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴? Only 38% of companies now require suppliers to meet sustainability criteria - down from 47% last year. More spending, yet we’re seeing less execution. The culprit? Regulatory complexity. That's the paradox shown in Deloitte's 2025 C-suite Sustainability Report. Over 40% of executives cite evolving policy as their biggest challenge. Teams are burning capacity tracking fragmented updates, instead of turning climate policies into strategy. Meanwhile, 66% of executives report sustainability efforts positively impact revenue generation - the highest-cited benefit, ahead of compliance or cost savings. 📊 The opportunity is real. Yet most teams lack the infrastructure to capture that value. Last week, we were asked: "Where will policy create the biggest green investment opportunities in our region over the next few years?" Maiven mapped the regulatory landscape and identified policies likely to drive spikes in investments in renewable infrastructure, carbon markets, and climate adaptation - helping them develop new products. 🔄 Policy tracking → Policy strategy. When you can process 500k+ documents, filter what's material, and spot where regulations are creating market shifts, policy stops being overhead. It becomes competitive advantage. 💡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 2026: 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘂𝗽? 💬 We'd love to hear: what's your biggest policy intelligence challenge right now? ⚖️ 𝗘𝗨 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝗺𝗻𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘀 𝗜 - 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘄 Last week the European Parliament voted down the Omnibus I compromise by only 9 votes (318-309). ❌ The defeated deal would have raised CSRD thresholds to 1,000 employees + €450M revenue and CSDDD to 5,000+ employees + €1.5B revenue. 🏚️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: those pushing for radical deregulation, those defending current rules, and a center coalition that collapsed when 31 S&D members broke ranks. 🗓️ 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 13 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀. Parliament will vote on 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 to the thresholds rather than a single take-it-or-leave-it compromise. This flexibility could unlock deals that failed in the all-or-nothing October vote. 🕰️ 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀. Trilogues remain postponed pending Parliament's November position. Realistic regulatory clarity now points to 2026, not year-end 2025. 💼 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: Your compliance architecture stays frozen. The "stop-the-clock" delays hold, but final CSRD/CSDDD obligations remain undefined. Build contingency scenarios for both stricter and looser final rules.
Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee voted to narrow CSRD and CSDDD scope beyond the Commission's Omnibus proposal. Here are the suggested changes 🇪🇺 𝗖𝗦𝗥𝗗 (𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲): 📊 New threshold: >1,000 employees AND >€450M turnover 📋 Commission free digital portal with templates 🚫 Large companies banned from requiring smaller partners to exceed voluntary standards 𝗖𝗦𝗗𝗗𝗗 (𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝘂𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲): 📊 Applies only to: >5,000 employees AND >€1.5B turnover ⚖️ Liability stays at national level (no EU civil liability) 💶 5% global turnover maximum fine unchanged 🎯 Risk-based information requests replace systematic data collection 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: 📅 Committee vote: Oct 9 (17-6-2) 📅 Trilogue negotiations start: Oct 24 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: The next few months could see a substantial change in scope for reporting and disclosure. Just on turnover thresholds, the Parliament's €450M is 9x the €50M in the Omnibus proposal. Excluded companies can report voluntarily but won't face cascading compliance requirements from larger partners. #ClimatePolicy #CRSD #CSDDD #NetZero #PolicyCompass #EU
