Do you want to make your organisation more inclusive? 💡Our Ambassador Noa Limpoco shared five tips on creating workplaces that are genuinely inclusive. Drawing from her lived experience as a neurodivergent disabled person and her expertise in DEI, she challenges workplaces to stop overlooking disabled people’s knowledge, influence, and leadership. Noa champions a system where disabled voices make decisions, not just advise on them. On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we urge our global Community to have more conversations and take action to create a more inclusive world for all. 🌍 💬 What actions is your organisation taking to ensure authentic inclusivity? #OneYoungWorld #OYW #DisabilityLeadership #Inclusion #Idpwd25 #DiversityEquityInclusion

All of us at One Young World are deeply saddened by the death of David Ball, Founder and Chairman of Brandfuel Ltd. David was the very first events genius to work on the One Young World Summit, and so much of what we do today, including our iconic ribbon ball, carries his creative imprint. From the beginning, he understood that the power of bringing people together could change lives, and he helped us translate that belief into an experience that has now united young leaders from every corner of the world. He was a giant of the events industry, a person whose imagination, integrity and generosity shaped countless moments for audiences worldwide. We will always be grateful for the kindness he showed our team and for the faith he placed in One Young World when the Summit was still just an idea taking shape. We are devastated for the Brandfuel team and for David’s beloved family. His legacy will live on in the countless people he inspired, mentored and brought together throughout his remarkable life. From Kate Robertson, David Jones, Ella Robertson McKay and all of the One Young World family.
We are very saddened to announce the death of David Ball, the Founder and Chairman of Brandfuel, who died on Saturday after several months of treatment for cancer. This he undertook with quiet and steely determination. He was 64. It is hard to overestimate David’s impact in the events industry: not only did he found Brandfuel in December 2004 (then known as Sprout), he grew it into one of the UK’s leading experiential agencies, with a client list and trophy cabinet to match. He was respected as an authoritative voice within the sector, judging many awards schemes and moderating many industry panels, which meant his diary was always bursting with invitations. The agency David founded is imbued with a formidable sense of corporate responsibility; it is always keen to offer expertise and guidance to charities and organisations that tackle the world’s problems head-on. Working with clients such as One Young World, the Humanitarian Leadership Academy, BGC, and STORM meant so much to David. Over the years, he also supported a large number of charities in a personal capacity and encouraged his colleagues, the Fuellers, to do the same. David was always keen to develop individuals and introduce them to the world of events; he had a very big heart and it was not within his skillset to say “no”. Though David usually shunned pride, he allowed himself one exception: he was the only athlete ever to represent both Great Britain and Jamaica in the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Long Distance Championships. Throughout Brandfuel’s 20-year history (Sprout was renamed in April 2005), David has been supported by Sue Sawyer, his Co-Founder and CEO, and Michael Mitchell, Finance Director. Now with a staff of 75-plus Fuellers, Brandfuel has been focusing on the next phase of its development, with a growing majority of its work undertaken overseas. Sue and Michael are keen to fulfil the goals they mapped out alongside David, as well as other projects that are in progress. “It has been an absolute privilege to work with David creating the impressive agency that Brandfuel has become over the past 20 years,” says Sue. “We are devastated by his loss, and will do our utmost to continue to build on his huge achievements in the months ahead.”

This organisation is fighting loneliness in big cities 💙 Loneliness is increasingly becoming a health concern around the world. What is now being referred to as an epidemic, loneliness can cause depression, anxiety and other chronic diseases. So, how can we fight it? Our Ambassador, Chanté Joseph founded an event series called Strangers in the City as a direct response to feeling isolated in a big city like London. Her solution? Show up alone. Or as Chanté puts it, don’t bring your boyfriend, best friend or mum. Every event is designed so strangers can meet, talk, and connect — no pressure, just genuine human moments. 🤝 In its first year, Strangers in the City sold out 22+ events and welcomed over 1,000 guests. 🌟 Chanté’s work reminds us that meaningful connection and community are at the heart of leadership. Small acts of empathy and courage can transform lives — and build communities that thrive. 🌍 How are you building and supporting your community today? #OneYoungWorld #Leadership #Connection #StrangersInTheCity #ChanteJoseph #ImpactDriven #YoungLeaders

Defending Truth in the Age of Disinformation 🛡️ Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and founder of Rappler, Maria Ressa, took the stage at the One Young World Summit to talk about one of the most pressing challenges we face in the digital age: disinformation. Maria warned that unchecked information erodes trust, polarises societies, and threatens fundamental freedoms. Drawing on her experience as a journalist under sustained attack, she issued a clear call to action for the world: confront disinformation with courage, uphold integrity, and take personal responsibility for safeguarding the facts. Maria urged the next generation to stand together to defend the truth and protect freedom of expression, highlighting the power of collective action in upholding democratic values. When young leaders unite to challenge false narratives and strengthen freedom of expression, they build resilient institutions and societies that are inclusive and democratic.
