Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are moving from niche investments to critical infrastructure. But while demand is rising fast and technology is advancing to match, a stubborn challenge frequently resurfaces – integration risk. Too often, the different components and subsystems of a storage project are brought together only in the final stage: commissioning. It’s like assembling an orchestra on opening night and hoping everyone plays in time without ever rehearsing together. Our recent blog explores practical ways to reduce integration risk and build more flexible, future-ready storage portfolios, as well as how #RESolve helps create consistency across diverse technologies. Mission Complete: Exercise Darragh Our offshore teams in the UK&I joined forces with our global 24/7 Control Centre and external partners for Exercise Darragh, a planned emergency response drill. The exercise simulated an offshore emergency in a controlled environment, giving teams the chance to practice real-time responses, strengthen confidence and capability and reinforce clear communication. Alongside valuable refreshers on equipment maintenance, first aid, and rescue procedures, one key takeaway stood out - effective emergency response is never a solo effort. Responding as a unified team can make a lifesaving difference. Supporting 45GW of renewable energy assets globally, we continue to prioritise a safety culture of continuous practice which is embedded into our processes and operations across the projects we service. #EmergencyResponse #Safety #OffshoreWind

Spare parts and circular repair in focus. At AEMER’s conference in Madrid last week, our Director of Spare Parts & Reconditioning, Francisco Hernandez, highlighted a growing focus in the PV sector: ensuring equipment reliability through circular repair and effective spare parts management. Delays in critical components such as inverters can significantly affect energy generation. Best practice is to combine strategic OEM partnerships with local refurbishment capabilities to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespans. This is an approach we apply across our renewable portfolio. The event brought together industry and government leaders including MITECO, Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, to explore solutions for more resilient, sustainable and future-ready maintenance. Thank you to AEMER - Asociación de Empresas de Mantenimiento de Energías Renovables for hosting this important conversation.
