    STEM is a programme to promote the interest in scientific careers falling in the domain of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics in the younger generation.
    Throughout my year in Pfizer, several opportunities were made available to me to go out into the local community and help out students who were applying, or considering applying to University. I volunteered to go and give mock University interviews at Ellington and Hereson School in Ramsgate and then again at East Kent College…

    STEM is a programme to promote the interest in scientific careers falling in the domain of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics in the younger generation.
    Throughout my year in Pfizer, several opportunities were made available to me to go out into the local community and help out students who were applying, or considering applying to University. I volunteered to go and give mock University interviews at Ellington and Hereson School in Ramsgate and then again at East Kent College. I personally remember the tough decisions that had to be made at the time, and enjoyed easing the minds of the extremely nervous students for whom this would be the first experience in a formal (although mock) interview. It was extremely rewarding to read their enthusiastic, appreciative, and relieved feedback afterwards.
    Nearer the beginning of my year I also got the opportunity to go to Simon Langton Girls Grammar School in Canterbury to represent Pfizer in a careers fair. It was a great way to impart previous experience and knowledge on younger students to whom science was a foreign concept, as well as help guide and inform older students about the pharmaceutical industry in particular.

    Helping to build a kindergarten 2-story building at the top of a hard-to-reach location in the mountains of Cusco Peru. As the only Spanish speaker in the group of volunteers, and a Spanish speaking construction lead, this resulted in a variety of translation and delegation tasks on top of the arduous physical labour.
