Education Administration Programs

We support young people and adults to build future-ready skills, make informed career choices, and access employment.

About us

Opening pathways to meaningful futures for all.   Education must do more than prepare students for exams it should help them navigate a changing world. At edt, we support learners to make successful transitions from school to work, while strengthening the capacity of education systems to support this journey at scale.  Our approach is shaped by over 25 years of experience, from supporting NEET prevention and promoting vocational pathways in the UK, to helping girls in Kenya navigate post-secondary transitions, and challenging gender norms in other territories. We embed future readiness into curricula, support schools with career guidance, and ensure policy aligns with labour market needs.  Our model focuses on early engagement, strong employer partnerships, and professional development for teachers and leaders. We work with ministries to embed future readiness at every level guided by labour market intelligence and supported by the middle tier of education systems.  Programmes like our Lifelong Learners initiative in Jordan develop students’ skills in digital literacy, climate action, creativity, communication, and wellbeing. With an equity-first mindset, we help education systems prepare every learner for a successful future, wherever they start from.

  • Heard of the hidden job market? Up to 60% of jobs are never advertised. Here’s why, and how you could access it: Why does this happen? It can cost a lot of money to advertise a job, and if employers are small or local, they often simply don't have the budget. Plus some employers like to interview people recommended by someone they trust. They often fill roles through word of mouth or networking before ever advertising. So, how can you access the hidden job market? 1️⃣ Tell people you’re looking. Whether it's friends, ex-colleagues or family, people can’t recommend you if they don’t know you’re job hunting. 2️⃣ Make the first move. Reach out to employers you're interested in. A polite email or LinkedIn message with your CV can put you on their radar before a job goes live. 3️⃣ Network with purpose. Local Facebook groups, LinkedIn, community centres, or volunteering can all be great sources of information. 4️⃣ Follow up. Keep in touch with people you've spoken to. A quick “just checking in” message can go a long way. Being proactive and showing you are keen to work somewhere before a vacancy is advertised can put you on a great first footing with an employer. • ✨What an event! ✨ We were delighted to take part in this year’s Career Development Institute National Conference and contribute to conversations about the future of careers guidance and the role of technology in supporting adults into work. It was inspiring to hear such a wide range of views on the challenges and opportunities shaping adult careers provision. Our panel, chaired by Mark De Backer, Head of Careers at edt, explored the shifting priorities in the careers landscape and what support structures are needed to help adults move towards and stay in work. The discussion brought together insights from across the sector and highlighted the importance of evidence based, practical solutions. In a hands on workshop, Abbe Smith, National Careers Service Manager at edt, shared real examples of impact and looked at how tools such as AI and interactive technologies could enhance the future of adult guidance. The session encouraged lively conversation and a sense of what is already working well. It was energising to be part of such a dynamic event and to connect with colleagues who share our commitment to improving outcomes for young people and adults. We left feeling optimistic about what comes next and the role that innovation and collaboration will play in shaping it.
