❤️ What a day at Conway’s 2025 Hispanic Heritage Festival in Arkansas! The Red Cross was thrilled to celebrate alongside a vibrant community full of music, flavor, and tradition. We shared disaster preparedness tips with kids, signed families up for free smoke alarms, and met incredible bilingual volunteers ready to make a difference. With Hispanic Heritage Month just around the corner, we’re reminded of the power of community and the importance of showing up, learning, and growing together. ¡Gracias por recibirnos con tanto cariño! ❤️ ¡Qué día tan especial en el Festival de la Herencia Hispana 2025 en Conway! Our Missouri and Arkansas Red Cross regional staff recently met for our annual meeting to reflect, connect and plan for the year ahead. Staff from all seven chapters came together in Little Rock to review the past year’s efforts, collaborate, and explore new ways to deepen our impact with this year's 'Survivor' theme. From team-building challenges to mission-focused conversations, every moment brought us closer to our shared goal: alleviating and preventing human suffering across the region. Here's to resilience, unity, and a powerful year ahead. ❤️

Last week in Greater Kansas City & Northwest Missouri, our team rolled up our sleeves and got to work-- bringing life-saving fire safety education directly to our neighbors! We installed nearly 70 smoke detectors across more than 35 homes—some of which had none before we arrived! National Preparedness Month shines a light on the importance of readiness, building safer, more resilient communities is a year-round effort. Every working smoke detector, every informed household, and every conversation about safety helps create safer homes and stronger neighborhoods—because when we’re prepared, we protect what matters most.

September marks the start of Sickle Cell Awareness Month: a time to spotlight the strength of those living with Sickle Cell Disease and the critical role blood transfusions play in their care. Regular blood transfusions are key for managing extreme pain & serious complications for many with #sicklecell disease, most of whom are of African descent. Blood donors who are Black are ~3x more likely to be a match for the blood they need. Please give: rcblood.org/37RKNdI

The need for blood is constant. Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. relies on the kindness of a stranger donating blood products to survive. Blood and platelets can’t be manufactured -- they can only be given through the generosity of people like you. Your donation could be the difference between life and loss. Give hope. Give healing. Give time. Donate today.

We had the honor of celebrating Joe Mouton, our lead Veterans Affairs' volunteer, at the Kansas City VA’s quarterly Voluntary Services meeting. Joe is retiring after an incredible 17 years of service with the Red Cross, having dedicated nearly 3,000 hours to supporting veterans. Our Greater Kansas City and Northwest Missouri Executive Director, JoAnn Woody, and Jason Ramlow, Regional Program Manager for Service to the Armed Forces, were proud to attend and recognize Joe’s unwavering commitment. Joe received a heartfelt letter from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs—beautifully encased in a plaque—as well as a challenge coin, presented by the KCVA. It was a deeply meaningful tribute to Joe’s legacy. We will miss Joe at the Red Cross, but we are endlessly grateful for the time, heart, and dedication he shared with us. He will always be part of our Red Cross family!
