About us

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The first office of the American Red Cross in Oklahoma was established in 1917. The American Red Cross Serving Oklahoma is responsible for the safety and preparedness for 77 counties in the state through four chapters and hundreds of selfless volunteers. Today, the American Red Cross helps Oklahoma residents prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies with services provided by small paid staff and a corps of more than 1,000 volunteers. The Oklahoma Region responds to an average of more than 2,000 local disasters each year, providing immediate disaster assistance to Oklahoma residents in the form of emotional support, emergency shelter, food and comfort. We teach Oklahoma residents how to protect themselves or to help others in an emergency through courses in First Aid, CPR and Lifeguarding, as well as Babysitter training and Community Disaster Education programs. We provide emergency communications, counseling and other services to Oklahoma military families. And we support the collection of blood at thousands of drives across the state to provide lifesaving blood components and products to hospitals and acute care facilities in Oklahoma.

Updates

  • The Red Cross was proud to attend a pre-deployment event in Tulsa with other Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program partners for an Oklahoma National Guard unit. The Red Cross sends emergency messages to deployed members of the armed forces and offers a range of support services to military and veteran families. We love talking about how we can help! Check out the link in our comments to learn more about Service to the Armed Forces.

    • A promotional booth by the American Red Cross under the banner "Service to the Armed Forces," featuring informational brochures, pamphlets, and small gift items on a table. The backdrop displays images of military personnel engaging with Red Cross representatives.
    • A person delivering a presentation in front of military personnel seated at tables in a warehouse-like setting.
  • We heard you missed the PEANUTS gang, so we brought them back... with a twist! Those who come to give blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma Aug. 29-Sept. 21 will receive an exclusive Red Cross x PEANUTS mystery bag with one of FOUR special T-shirt designs, while supplies last. Each design is iconic, and donors won’t know which one they’ll get until they open the bag – bringing a little extra fun to this coveted collab! In addition, there will be a number of golden tickets randomly in the mystery bags hidden throughout the country. Donors who find a golden ticket when they open their bag will have the chance to redeem it through an online form for all four T-shirts! Make an appointment to give at www.redcrossblood.org, through your Red Cross Blood Donor App, or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS

  • This World Humanitarian Day, we pause to remember humanitarian workers killed and injured while working to alleviate suffering around the globe. When a humanitarian worker is killed, it’s not just a life lost — it’s a lifeline cut for the people that need it most. Attacks on humanitarian workers are NOT inevitable and should never be accepted as part of the job. #ProtectHumanity now. Visit the link in our comments to learn more.
