It was refreshing to have detailed technical conversations with numerous “Young Professionals” from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division during the Intelligent Ships Symposium of the American Society of Naval Engineers. In addition to all the mentoring [both up and down the chain of command], it was my honor to witness the direct mentoring results ~ happening right before our eyes ~ a truly outstanding example were four of the recent Rosenblatt (Young Naval Engineer) Award Recipients together - working in unison mentoring the next generation of Rosenblatt Young Engineers! ***** ~ Ms. Makayla Holt, PMP Holt ~ Ms. Allison DeRocco ~ Mr. Eric Mscisz and newest award recipient, ~ Mr. Peter McCauley !!!!! The Rosenblatt Young Naval Engineer Award was established in memory of Mandell and Lester Rosenblatt and presented to persons who have demonstrated remarkable, early professional achievement, with potential for continued distinction in naval engineering that is typically uncharacteristic of someone of his or her age. The Rosenblatt Award came about as a result of a generous bequest from the estate of Lester Rosenblatt. Lester and his father Mandell Rosenblatt were partners in the legendary firm of M. Rosenblatt and Son Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and they built a superb reputation for technical excellence and integrity while playing a key role in design and engineering for more than half of the ships built by the U.S. Navy for over 50 years. The nominee shall exhibit character and integrity that reflects the Rosenblatt tradition of both ethics and excellence that has brought great credit to our community and the Society, and that will serve as a role model for other young engineers.
