I just returned from my first trip to L.A. since before the pandemic. Back then, our industry came together each year for the Promax Conference – where, for a few days, we stepped out of our individual work bubbles, connected with colleagues, and felt a true sense of community. So much has changed since then - both for the industry and me personally. But attending the The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences Awards and then Assembly last week, I felt that much needed connection and community more strongly than ever. Being inspired by great work at GEMA, chatting with old and new friends at Assembly, and realizing that while we all share the same challenges, we're all driven by the same goal: to make great creative. Throw in an amazing night watching Game 7 of the World Series with Gina Scarpulla and an easy trip home despite the shutdown, I’m feeling grateful to be a part of this crazy business - and ready to plan my next trip West very soon.
