We are so proud to share that Antonio Lopez, our Associate Director for Research and Advocacy, has been selected as a 2025–2026 Obama Foundation Leader. Only 100 people in the country are chosen, and Antonio is one of them. If you know Antonio, you know why! He is the San Mateo County Poet Laureate. He is a former Mayor of East Palo Alto. He is a first generation college graduate who carries the stories and dreams of his family from Michoacán with so much love. He is a fierce community advocate who leads with so much corazón and humility. His leadership sits at the intersection of art, policy, culture, and justice. At ALAS, Antonio leads research and advocacy that lift up the voices and wisdom of our Latino community. And because his heart is always with the people, he teaches ESL classes at night. That is what leadership looks like at ALAS. Love and service in action.
