Officer Rose made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our county. His dedication, courage, and service will never be forgotten. Brookhaven Teen Police Academy: Class 001 - You Did It! A huge thank you to the incredible students who made our very first Teen Police Academy a powerful success! On June 3, Brookhaven PD responded to an evolving multi-jurisdictional incident. A vehicle that had fled from a partner agency was detected within our jurisdiction. Leveraging the Skydio Drone First Responder (DFR) and real-time data from our extensive Flock Safety license plate reader (LPR) network, officers located the suspects as they actively attempted to steal another vehicle. As officers closed in, the suspects fled, triggering a vehicle pursuit. Brookhaven officers discontinued the pursuit once the vehicle exited city limits but continued to monitor it in real-time through the extensive LPR network spanning the Atlanta metro area. The vehicle was tracked across multiple jurisdictions, with additional agencies engaging in pursuits that spanned several counties. The incident ultimately ended with the arrest of three suspects, including two juveniles, all now facing multiple felony charges. The investigation later revealed the suspects were tied to a broader, multi-day crime spree—including a drive-by shooting. Incidents like this are a powerful reminder: real-time technology is only as effective as the collaboration behind it.
