When Caldera + Lab wasn't seeing results from an outside marketing agency, founder Jared Pobre hired an in-house director of growth marketing and a video editor to better tell the men's skincare brand's story. "You have to have the right words," said Pobre during a marketing panel at BITE New York on Sept. 10. "The content is truly what sells." Along with Pobre, panelists from IMARAÏS BEAUTY, Brooklyn Blonde, OGAKI, AKT London and Maesa shared insights about the difficulties many emerging brands face marketing today, including when partnering with influencers to drive sales. AKT London, for example, found that spending tens of thousands of dollars on content creators was disappointing. Instead, the brand has had success tapping into an ambassador network of fans. "The authenticity has been the No. 1 thing that has changed the entire dial for us," says co-founder Ed Currie. Our west coast team started the week at The All-In Summit in LA, connecting with thought leaders and customers, introducing men’s performance skincare as a tool for personal wellness. The engagement was next-level and we loved sharing our latest exosome-powered innovations, The Great and The Hydro Layer. After the three-day summit, we closed out in LA with a recovery day for attendees at Quantum Wellness Spa, featuring the Caldera + Lab men’s facial. Meanwhile in New York, our team was exhibiting at Beauty Independent’s BITE event. From panel insights shared by our Founder and CEO, Jared Pobre, on the future of beauty marketing, to connecting with familiar and new faces at the Caldera + Lab booth, it was an incredibly energizing day showcasing our fresh look and new products to industry leaders and friends. Borrowing Beauty Independent’s language, what defines entrepreneurs “isn’t just the boldness of their vision, it’s the grit to keep pursuing it when the odds are stacked against them”. These words have been especially true for us in the dynamic landscape of the men’s category. I am honored to be recognized by Beauty Independent as a nominee for their 2025 Beacon Award in the Entrepreneur category. It is an exciting validation of our mission at Caldera + Lab, to disrupt men’s skincare by raising the standards of innovation for men, to deliver uncompromising, science-backed skincare that transforms skin and hair health. Back in 2017, before launching, we partnered with leading scientists and labs to uncover the dermatological differences of men’s skin and determine what it actually needs to thrive.
