CASA Kane County is leading a collaborative network of key leaders and organizations throughout Kane County, through a new Community-Based Advisory Council. The Council’s overall goal is to reduce the number of children in foster care, by providing prevention, early intervention, and resources at the earliest possible stage – before abuse, neglect or removal from the home occurs. Laura Poss, Executive Director of Tri-City Family Services shares how the council is addressing community challenges by breaking down barriers to resources and collaborating to ensure families and youth receive the support they need. This is the 6th message in our series featuring community leaders who are part of this initiative. Stay tuned for more insights coming soon! A nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children.
About us
CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Juvenile and Probate Court systems. Its existence is based on the belief that every child has the right to a safe and permanent home allowing them the chance to reach their full potential in life. CASA Kane County has been serving abused and neglected children since 1988. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are assigned as the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) to all child abuse and neglect cases in Juvenile Court as well as all private guardianship cases involving minors in Probate Court. CASA volunteers provide consistency to the children on their case, submit reports to the judge prior to all court hearings, and make certain that the child's best interests are represented. These volunteers are Everyday Heroes, people just like you who have chosen to speak up for a child. Help us make the difference in the life of a child.

We are thrilled to celebrate Kimberli's adoption! Kimberli, who is deaf, entered care with no way to communicate and faced serious safety concerns. Through grace and great fortune, she was placed with a foster family fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Since then, her life has completely transformed—she’s thriving in school, building friendships, and learning all the skills needed to succeed. One of the most amazing things about Kimberli is how she teaches ASL to anyone willing to learn! We want to give a heartfelt thank you to Eve, the CASA/GAL on the case. Eve worked closely with Kimberli and her foster family, even learning ASL herself to better communicate and support them. She regularly attended visits and went the extra mile to assist Kimberli’s biological mother as well—supporting in both ASL and Spanish. Eve continues to advocate for Kimberli’s older brother, and we couldn’t be prouder of her dedication on this very first case. 💙 Congratulations to Kimberli, her forever family, and to Eve on this beautiful outcome!
