Fully deployed, CAFI's PES could sequester 4.8 gigatons of CO2e annually, seven times the Congo Basin's total 2022 GHG emissions. This isn't just a promise. It's an operational, performance-based mechanism with independent verification. Central Africa's forests can become the world's largest carbon sink. #COP30 #ADecadeWithCAFI #ClimateAction #CarbonSequestration #PES #CongoBasin #NatureBasedSolutions #NetZero

That's the massive, untapped potential for Payments for Environmental Services (PES) in Central Africa, excluding protected areas and forest concessions. Congo Basin countries, with CAFI support, have developed this innovative mechanism to transform climate finance into concrete action. The potential is there. The innovation is ready. The impact is measurable. #COP30 #ADecadeWithCAFI #CongoBasinForests #PES #ClimateFinance #AfricanInnovation #ForestConservation

Our #adecadewithCAFI journey continues! In 2020, we expanded our reach with key milestones: 🔹 Two new projects in Gabon, focusing on protected areas, agricultural research, and forestry certification (PNUD GABON The Nature Conservancy). 🔹 A partnership with the Central African Republic took shape through a call for proposals. 🔹 In the DRC, an Innovation Fund was created with United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) Development Fund to support small businesses developing clean cooking solutions, paving the way for major energy efficiency gains for urban households just four years later. #CAFI #Forests #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyTransition
