  • We're breaking ground on affordable housing in East Tampa and Central Park! 🏠 Work has begun on Phase III of Tampa's Infill Housing Program - just one of the ways we're working to meet the affordable housing need in our community. Today, we marked this milestone with Mayor Jane Castor and Kenya Ramirez, one of the first-time developers whose family-owned company was awarded a lot. How the program works: Through a lottery system, 20 local developers were awarded lots to build and sell homes to income-eligible homebuyers for under $400,000 (current median home price in Hillsborough County is ~$420,000). With 8 lots of townhome-style residences, this phase of construction will yield 45 homes in the next 1.5 years, bringing the program total to 295 affordable homes for Tampa families. Tampa’s Riverwalk Expansion is connecting neighborhoods, creating safer streets, and opening up new ways for everyone to move through the city. By filling in the final gaps of a 12.2-mile multi-use path, the project is making it easier for families, students, and workers to walk or bike safely from West Tampa and Hyde Park to Downtown and beyond. With new crossings, better sidewalks, and improved bike routes, more Tampa residents can enjoy the river, get to jobs and schools, and stay active—all while supporting local businesses and a healthier environment. Shoreline restoration and safer streets mean a stronger, more resilient city for today and tomorrow. That’s #ImpactMultipled. What local climate projects are making a difference where you live?
