We are beyond proud to publish this together with RevenueCat 💜 When setting up your paywall targeting, how do you usually segment your audience? Most teams think about who the user is and what they’re doing… but one key layer still goes unnoticed: context. Demographics tell you who, behavior shows you what, but context decides when. A user on the move vs. a user on the couch has radically different intent when seeing the exact same paywall. Timing shapes intent - sometimes within seconds. And when 82% of trials start on day zero, showing the right message at the wrong moment might be the biggest leak in your funnel. Our own Felix breaks down why “context windows” are becoming the third dimension of paywall optimization - and why top apps are shifting from more prompts to better-timed prompts. 👉 Mistimed paywalls create friction, negative reviews and silent churn 👉 Traditional optimization treats all moments the same - users don’t 👉 Context-aware timing can lift conversion while reducing interruptions 👉 Real-time device signals unlock high-intent moments without extra permissions 👉 Apps like Blackbox have seen 50% revenue lifts simply by changing when paywalls appear If you want to understand why timing is becoming the new frontier in monetization, this one is worth a read! 🔗 Full blog in the comments 💜 Big shoutout to Hendrik Haandrikman Lorelei Whitman for making this happen!

Every day, potential users of your app encounter paywalls at the wrong moment. When our attention is constantly shifting and our brains are in overdrive, showing the right message at the wrong moment is a huge point of friction. And it might be the biggest leak in your funnel 🚰 Optimizing paywall targeting means meeting the user when they’re ready to commit. But that intent can shift dramatically in a few seconds, depending on context. ℹ️ Context = timing, motion, environment, and mentality The best-converting paywalls are combining audience segmentation, behavioral data, and context. Felix Krause, Founder of ContextSDK, breaks down why timing is crucial for conversion: 👉 The same user can swing from ‘not now’ to ‘upgrade’ in seconds 👉 Mistimed paywalls lead to lower conversion, higher refunds, and early churn 👉 Showing fewer paywalls at better moments can outperform high-frequency paywalls 👉 Real-time device signals (motion, orientation, battery, connectivity) can identify high-intent moments 👉 Top apps aren’t just optimizing paywalls — they’re optimizing context windows Our attention is fragile, and user trust is hard-earned. Learn how contextual paywall targeting can help serve users the right paywall, in Felix’s full blog (link in the comments 🔗)

  • AI outreach that actually works? Yep… we saw it live. Fresh off an incredible week at Business of Apps Berlin, Zach and Severin headed straight into another major stop on the circuit: SaaStr.ai London. And this time, one thing became impossible to ignore - AI has officially moved from “nice-to-have” to “running the show” It started even before the conference! The outreach emails we got ahead of SaaStr? Short. Sharp. Useful. Only later did we learn they weren’t written by a human… but by AI (!!) And honestly? They worked. SaaStr drove 15% of ticket revenue through that agent alone. A small example - but a big signal. 💡 Here are a few themes Zach and Severin kept hearing again and again: ① AI isn’t a tool - it’s the new operating system for GTM teams Teams that scale fastest aren’t stacking 50 tools. They’re choosing a few AI partners, integrating deeply and letting compound improvements do the work. Great AI takes iteration - it starts messy, reaches parity, then surpasses old workflows. ② Real value shows up when AI becomes cross-functional. Finance, RevOps, Product, Marketing, CS - when these teams adopt AI together, businesses move differently. Otherwise, AI becomes a slide deck, not a strategy. ③ SDR and outreach workflows are being rebuilt from scratch. If the message is clear, relevant and valuable, nobody cares whether AI or a human wrote it. Done right, AI becomes the multiplier - not the spam generator 😌 SaaStr London was a reminder of just how fast our ecosystem is evolving. Next year’s winners won’t just be AI-enabled. 🔥 They’ll be AI-powered at the foundation. Big thanks to everyone who connected with us there - and to the SaaStr team for the inspiration! On to the next one 💜🚀

I’m starting to notice some patterns at the Berlin app conferences… especially Business of Apps at the end of the year 🕵️♀️ RevenueCat - always the shiniest booth in the room. I think we’re all secretly relieved when our booths are not placed next to you… impossible to compete 😅 CleverTap -The fun guys! it’s always great to catch up and leave with a good mood Christopher Inarda Francesco Guerrieri Aarki & Moloco - home of some of the most loved industry legends Gabriela Charlotte 💜 Adapty.io/ FunnelFox - the wildest raffle prizes. Really enjoyed chatting with you Marina - even though I didn’t win the iPhone Hannah & Marcus Burke - with the most crowded roundtables …And to everyone I bumped into (or sadly missed!), you make these events what they are. Truly. :) Before BOA officially kicked off, Melisa and I attended the beautiful rooftop pre-event hosted by Paddle and Aperture - with a super interesting session by Andrew, Alessio and Hannah. Such a perfect warm-up to the conference madness. Thanks for pulling that together Hannah! And congrats to 3 years of Aperture! 🥳 For us at ContextSDK, the day itself was packed. Dieter started the morning with an amazing podcast session with the wonderful Peggy - gifting her our new Monetization Playbook 💜 In the afternoon, we hosted our own boardroom on Moment Monetisation and were honestly blown away by how many people joined and how curious everyone was to brainstorm moment monetization use cases with us. Special thanks to all of you who made the discussion so lively! Pascal Priso Joanna Rosengarten Niklas Henckell Shelly Sundag Tina Lindner & more We wrapped it all up with a super fun dinner at Freundschaft with some of my favourite folks of the app industry! Thank you all for joining! Loved every Knödel and every minute of it! Hannah Parvaz Andrew Davies Alper Taner Alessio Avellan Borgmeyer Jaehoon Jeong Jeff Grang Camille Ardisson Léa Samrani Evelin Herrera Vahe Baghdasaryan Asya Paloni Marcus Burke 👩🚀 Stefan Vujović And as I am someone who can’t end my days early at those conferences with those amazing people around, I obviously ended up at the Clevertap x Moloco x Adjust x Phiture afterparty - finishing the conference dancing and singing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” at the top of my lungs! Have a good one everyone - and hope to see you all again very soon! 🫶💜

  • That’s a wrap on November 💜 And what a month it was. We shipped our 2026 Monetization Playbook, joined forces with Superwall, hosted a full boardroom at App Promotion Summit Berlin (and a cozy dinner after 🥂) and got inspired by Slush’s chilly magic in Helsinki. So we packed it all into this newsletter - → push tactics → pricing wins → Candy Crush’s $200M ad engine → a full December event lineup Whether you’re planning 2026 or just trying to finish strong, this one’s for you👇

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas... 🎄✨ For many in our industry, App Promotion Summit in Berlin is the last big get-together of the year - a place where the whole app ecosystem comes together to catch up, brainstorm about next year, exchange ideas, hear what’s new… or simply reconnect with friends. And honestly? It’s such a beautiful way to wrap up the year, especially inside the wonderfully decorated Hotel Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin! 💫 And this time it felt extra special for us. It’s amazing to see how ContextSDK is finding its place in the ecosystem - and how many of you stop us with ideas, questions and genuine excitement about what we’re building. Every single conversation gives us new energy and reinforces that on-device context really is the missing piece many teams have been waiting for. 🎙️ First highlight: We kicked off the day with a podcast recording with the wonderful Peggy Anne Salz - and if you know Peggy, you know this means a real conversation, not just surface-level talking points. Dieter and her went into our journey, our learnings and what’s ahead. 💬 Then our boardroom session: Our roundtable on Moment Monetisation was packed, full of smart, curious people who weren’t afraid to challenge ideas and share their own. Thank you to everyone who joined - these sessions always leave us inspired, full of new thoughts and ready to push things even further. Just to name a few: Tina Lindner Pascal Priso Joanna Rosengarten Niklas Henckell Damla Yildirim Shelly Sundag 🍷 And finally… the perfect ending: We wrapped the day with a cozy dinner at Freundschaft together with some of the brightest people in the app world. Great conversations, great energy, great wine - honestly the best way to close an already amazing day. Hannah ParvazAndrew Davies Alper Taner Alessio Avellan Borgmeyer Jaehoon Jeong Jeff Grang Camille Ardisson Léa Samrani Evelin Herrera Vahe Baghdasaryan 👩🚀 Stefan Vujović Asya Paloni Marcus Burke and many more! Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by, joined a session, shared feedback or simply said hi. We’re heading into 2026 feeling grateful, motivated and excited to team up with many of you! Until the next one and hope to see you all very soon! 💜 Yours truly, Dieter, Melisa, Cecilie & the ContextSDK team

Yesterday felt like a high school reunion for the app industry. In the best possible way. 🙌 🚀 Back at the Business of Apps event at the legendary Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin, it was once again a gathering of some of the leading minds, forward thinkers, and expert practitioners from top apps, the tech stack, and the platforms. Huge shout-out to James Cooper, his team, and people like Emily Hazlewood for curating another outstanding agenda – from sharp keynotes to panels on the role of AI in the future of app marketing, and insights from top pundits such as Hendrik Haandrikman, Vahe Baghdasaryan, Andrew Davies, Hannah Parvaz and many more 💡 One of my personal highlights: recording a podcast session with the one and only Peggy Anne Salz. Peggy’s genuine curiosity makes it incredibly easy to open up, reflect, and dive into a real conversation about what you’re building. We went deeper into our journey – where we started a little more than two years ago and where we are now:  👉 bringing on-device contextual data to the market  👉 building a data infrastructure layer as a foundation for a new level of growth in the app economy In the afternoon, I had the chance to host a boardroom session with ~20 people on moment monetization – because timing (the “when”) is still the most underused lever in app monetization. In a world of rising CAC and constant battles against app fatigue, nobody who does this professionally can afford to ignore a new category of data that can materially improve the business. The discussion was incredibly high-level but specific at the same time - and that’s 100% down to the expertise, know-how, and openness of the participants. This is exactly what makes Business of Apps events truly one of a kind. And thanx for all the great feedback we got in person for our recently published Monetization Playbook 2026 - it means the world to me and my team that worked so hard on that piece of Content. None of this would have been possible without my “wing women” these days in Belrin: Cecilie Auersperg 🔜 APS Berlin and Melisa Caglar – extraordinary colleagues who do the heavy lifting on the ground: connecting, networking, asking the right questions, and helping bring the most amazing people in touch with our company and products 🚀 We ended our day with a hosted Dinner at the most amazing Bar Freundschaft in Berlin, obviously run by two great Austrians and enjoyed the hospitality, the food and some amazing bottles of great wine. 🙏 Thank you to the organizers, the brilliant speakers, everyone who joined the boardroom, and my colleagues for making this day so special. I’m very excited about the months ahead – and I can’t wait to see everyone again at one of the next Business of Apps events.
