Yesterday, PennSTAR’s medical helicopter landed at its new home, Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital. PennSTAR leadership and crew were on-site to answer questions while giving a close-up look at the aircraft's capabilities. The PennSTAR Flight Program provides critical care air and ground medical transportation to the Tri-State Area within a 100-mile radius of Penn Medicine. Three medical helicopters and two critical care ambulances provide rapid transport of critical care patients and on-scene services at the site of accidents and trauma-related incidents. The PennSTAR helicopter is larger, faster and more spacious than the previous model that served the hospital. This helicopter was specifically designed for Medivac service, with the ability to operate safely in varied weather conditions, at night, or in controlled spaces.

Eight years ago, just one year after he joined Doylestown Health, primary care physician assistant Dan Hemple enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard. "I desired to give back to the country that has given so much to me," said Hemple, who feels both roles help him be a better version of himself. Recently promoted to major, Hemple was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for the dedicated care he provided to American troops in Germany and Ukrainian soldiers pulled from the front lines.
