This week in global logistics: the U.K. announces the upcoming end of its £135 duty-free threshold; the U.S. suggests a possible reduction in steel and aluminum tariffs on the EU; rates continue to drop on the TPEB; demand undergoes mild recovery on the FEWB; and ex-Asia air routes see elevated demand. 🇬🇧 U.K. Announces Upcoming End of Duty-Free Exemption for Low-Value Goods: Today, the U.K. indicated that it would eliminate its duty-free exemption for goods valued under £135, with plans to implement a solution by March of 2029. The announcement comes just weeks after the EU announced the upcoming end of its own duty-free threshold for low-value parcels, while the U.S. officially eliminated the de minimis exemption back in August. 🇺🇸🇪🇺 U.S. Suggests Potential Reduction in Steel and Aluminum Tariffs on EU: On November 24, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick suggested a possible reduction in U.S. steel and aluminum duties on the EU, contingent upon the EU modifying digital regulations that impact major American technology companies. 🇧🇷 New Duty Exemptions for Brazilian Goods: On November 20, President Trump signed an executive order expanding the list of products exempt from the additional 40% IEEPA tariff on Brazil.
