Every strong foundation begins with someone who believes in what can be built. This year, Hope Academy proudly honored F.A. Wilhelm Construction with the 2025 Faces of Hope Award for their decades of partnership, generosity, and leadership. From constructing our first home inside the Fairbanks Recovery Center to standing beside us through 20 years of growth, Wilhelm has played a vital role in helping Hope Academy provide teens in recovery with the stability, structure, and support they need to thrive. “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.” Those words from The Shawshank Redemption open a powerful new essay by Michael Leppert, MSC, who beautifully captures the energy and heart of this year’s Rise & Shine for Hope Breakfast—and the spirit of Hope Academy itself. As we celebrate 20 years of helping teens in recovery build brighter futures, we’re grateful for thoughtful voices like Michael’s, and for dedicated leaders like Amy Levander, Hope Academy’s Board Chair, whose commitment helps make this work possible. We’re excited to welcome Rachel Jones as Hope Academy’s new Science Teacher! Ms. Jones teaches Biology, Environmental Science, and Integrated Chemistry and Physics. With a background in Liberal Studies and Premedical Studies from Indiana University Bloomington—and experience as an EMT—Ms. Jones brings both passion and expertise to the classroom. She has taught middle school science and even first grade math, but says Hope Academy feels like the perfect fit: ✨ “I was drawn to this role at Hope Academy because it aligns perfectly with my passion for science, education, and creating meaningful opportunities for young people. I believe in the power of education to inspire and empower, and I’m excited about contributing to a learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, grow, and succeed.” – Rachel Jones Ms. Jones says what stood out most about Hope is the community: “There’s a genuine care for each individual here, and a clear dedication to helping every student thrive.” Outside of the classroom, she enjoys family time, exploring nature, and playing piano. Her favorite quote comes from Jane Goodall: “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” We’re thrilled to have Ms. Jones on the Hope Academy team and can’t wait to see the difference she’ll make for our students. 💙 #HopeAcademyRHS #MeetTheStaff #RecoveryEducation #HopeInAction
