Motivated by his father's dementia journey, Derek Small shifted his creative venture firm, Luson Bioventures, to focus investing in neuroscience biotech startups. Though not a scientist by trade, his father's journey inspired him to team up with the best and brightest from Indiana University School of Medicine. Small and a team of IU School of Medicine researchers have since co-founded a startup, Monument Biosciences, dedicated to developing the next generation of Alzheimer’s disease treatments. Housed within the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, the start-up began incubation in 2023 and has since partnered with dozens of renowned researchers and medical professionals to bring the company's objectives to life. Indiana University is proud to announce the expansion of its robust artificial intelligence offerings with OpenAI by providing access to ChatGPT Edu — an AI tool built specifically for higher education. 🏫 Providing access to all 120,000 students, faculty and staff, IU will be the second largest ChatGPT rollout of all time for OpenAI, placing the university as a national leader in higher education innovation while highlighting its commitment to responsibly integrating AI across all campuses and preparing a students for a modern, future-ready workforce.
