🌟 Community Spotlight: Floyd County Community Day 🌟 Kentucky Power recently teamed up with the Floyd County Homeless Shelter for Floyd County Community Day — a day focused on service, support and community spirit. Our employees served lunch and helped with hands-on projects to improve the shelter. They also kicked off construction of a new basketball court for the use of residents and their families. This day was all about showing up for our neighbors in need and strengthening the Floyd County community together. More than 35 homes were repaired! Always fun-filled, the participants bring so much joy to the games along with their incredible drive to win! ⚡ Community Spotlight: Line Crew in Action! 💪 One of our dedicated line crews had a fun opportunity to visit students at Ponderosa Elementary recently! We make it our priority to participate in our local schools by educating students on the utility industry and sharing important information on how to stay safe around electricity. We hope to inspire the next generation by igniting interest in STEM fields and teaching students about the vital role of line workers in our community. ⚡ Exciting day for the AP Physics class at Boyd County High School! They toured the Big Sandy Power Plant in Louisa as part of their study on thermodynamics and electricity. 🌟 Led by top-tier engineer Wyatt Lewis, the students learned about the plant's operations and how they connect to their curriculum. We ❤️ our schools! At recent career fairs in Boyd, Lawrence, and Perry County, our employees showcased the talent behind the power industry. Students had the chance to try on high-voltage rubber sleeves and Class 2 gloves, getting a hands-on look at the job of a lineworker and their safety gear. 💪 It's a privilege to participate in experiences that bridge the gap between education and the real world, showcasing the exciting careers available in our field and beyond.
