Today, we announce a $300 million investment to expand our Franklin, Louisiana shipyard, a major milestone that will significantly increase our ability to deliver autonomous ships at speed and scale. Working in partnership with state and local officials, including Office of Governor Jeff Landry and Louisiana Economic Development, this expansion project will add more than 300,000 square feet of production capacity and create 1,500 new jobs over the coming years, strengthening the Gulf Coast’s role in the future of American maritime innovation and building the industrial foundation for a more agile and resilient fleet. Secretary Hegseth and the United States Department of War have made clear that acquisition reform must be matched by investment in the production base. Our expansion delivers exactly that — strengthening domestic capacity, accelerating delivery timelines, and ensuring the US can field advanced maritime capability when it is needed. Our Louisiana shipyard serves as the prototyping and production hub for Marauder, our autonomous ship that progressed from initial design to full vessel development in just six months. Building on that momentum, we have advanced the platform to an enhanced 180-foot design that delivers greater payload capacity and extended operational range. The updated design reflects our vertically integrated approach and sets a new benchmark for rapid, scalable, and adaptable US shipbuilding. • Continuing education and professional growth are core to Forefront — KPFF’s education philosophy that brings our teams together to learn from each other and build new skills.   Our Marketing Summit and PCA/OA Summit brought teammates from across KPFF to connect, share ideas, and invest in their own growth. Both groups also worked through Getting Things Done, a productivity framework focused on creating clarity and balance with everything we juggle in a day. Each summit included breakout sessions tailored to the group — designed for sharing ideas, learning new tools and processes, and upskilling in areas that support the work we do every day. Thank you to everyone who showed up curious, collaborative, and ready to learn. Your growth fuels our growth — and helps KPFF continue to do amazing work together. #KPFF #Forefront #ProfessionalGrowth #LearningCulture #Collaboration #BetterTogether

  • This Veterans Day, we pause to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s Veterans. To all who have served, we thank you.   KPFF is privileged to support VA projects that make a difference in the lives of Veterans. Our Special Projects and Los Angeles teams are working on the revitalization of the West LA Veterans Community, a 388-acre campus that will ultimately provide more than 900 homes for formerly homeless Veterans and their families. Through thoughtful infrastructure design and collaboration with dozens of local agencies, the project is helping create a safe, supportive environment where Veterans can thrive. We are proud to be ranked #4 in the Building Design+Construction Media Top 25 VA Facility Engineering Firms for the 2024 Giants 400.   #KPFF #Giants400 #VeteransDay #EngineeringExcellence #VAFacilities

  • As part of our annual SE2050 Embodied Carbon Action Plan (ECAP), KPFF proudly hosted our third Structural Embodied Carbon Summit, bringing together passionate engineers from all 11 of our structural offices.   We kicked things off with a company-wide presentation by our Embodied Carbon Co-Champions, Shana Kelley, PE, SE (Seattle Structural) and Molly Seto, SE (San Francisco), titled “Reducing Embodied Carbon: Tools, Data, and Support at KPFF.” Their insights energized our Principals and Associates, showcasing the tools and resources available to help us drive meaningful change.   The summit’s goal was to connect our embodied carbon champions, foster knowledge-sharing, and collaboratively discuss company-wide goals. Each champion will bring this knowledge back to their local office, helping us organically grow our embodied carbon expertise across KPFF.   Throughout the summit, we: - Explored setting embodied carbon limits in specifications and drawings - Got hands-on with our new in-house Embodied Carbon Calculator - Shared LCA best practices and reviewed the new ASCE Pre-standard It was an inspiring time to connect, collaborate, and reaffirm our commitment to reducing embodied carbon in the built environment. We’re excited to continue supporting our clients in delivering more sustainable projects. #EngineeringExcellence #SustainableDesign #EngineeringOpportunities

  • WSDOT recently hosted a Fish Passage Peer Exchange, bringing together design and construction partners to collaborate on improving project delivery and strengthening cross-discipline decision-making. KPFF’s Don Oates, PE, D.PE moderated a panel discussion focused on one of the most impactful decisions on these projects: road closures. ▪️ Road closures can significantly reduce construction duration and cost ▪️ …but they also require thoughtful planning to minimize impacts to stakeholders and the traveling public The panel explored real examples, lessons learned, and strategies for evaluating and implementing road closures successfully—highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement and stronger collaboration across project teams. Proud to be part of meaningful work that improves fish habitat, stream connectivity, and project efficiency.   #WSDOT #FishPassage #Infrastructure #Collaboration #KPFF #DesignAndConstruction #ContinuousImprovement #EnvironmentalStewardship
