Proud to have actively contributed to the success of this historic Gala de L’Alliance New York, which raised over $2.4M for French and francophone culture. My sincere thanks to Tatyana Franck and Catherine Baumann for their leadership, trust and support.
What an unforgettable night for L’Alliance New York. Last Thursday, we welcomed more than 500 guests to The Plaza Hotel for one of the most remarkable Gala de L’Alliance New York evenings in our institution’s history; a celebration of language, art, and the deep Franco-American ties that continue to shape our cultural landscape. We were honored to present the 2025 Trophée des Arts to Angèle and the Trophée de L'Alliance to Paddy McKillen whose vision for Chateau La Coste continues to inspire across continents. A highlight of the night came when Bradley Cooper took the stage in perfect French to present Paddy’s award, sharing: “Its energy radiates across the south of France and reaches all the way to New York like a true friendship… It is the very essence of life and it deserves to be celebrated.” Angèle, whose award was presented by French Minister of Francophonie Éléonore Caroit, reminded us: “Francophonie is not just a language; it’s a continuous dialogue between cultures… Emotions don’t need translation.” As I shared that evening: “At L’Alliance New York, we believe that what is singular can be shared by all, and what is different can unify because beauty for one can be beauty for all.” Under our collective leadership, the Gala has grown into a true French-speaking red-carpet experience; an evening of audacity, elegance, and cultural exchange. From the extraordinary culinary dialogue between Daniel Boulud and Francis Mallmann, to the monumental works of Elizabeth Colomba, to a joyful finale with Julien Granel, the night embodied the spirit of Francophonie in all its vibrancy. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised a record over $2.4 million to support our educational programs, artistic initiatives, and French-language instruction. These contributions are not just donations, they are investments in imagination, culture, and the next generation of artists and learners.
