Say hello to Prasad Sarma, a senior electrochemist, PhD, Fulbright scholar, and the kind of person who actually enjoys Mondays. Prasad brings over a decade of international experience in electrocatalysis, materials science, and electrolyzer development. He’s worked in labs across India, the U.S., and Canada, and now, he’s helping Liquid Sun build the future of clean fuels. What drew him in wasn’t just the science, but the strategy. Combining thermal and electrocatalysis to scale up CO₂ conversion isn’t just for fun, but it’s necessary. And contributing to something that’s both climate-critical and technically ambitious felt like the right next step. Throughout Prasad’s career, he’s made a habit of never standing still. He’s proud of the persistence and the habit he’s built: keep learning, stay curious, and solve the next tricky problem. Outside the lab, Prasad keeps things simple: time with family, something good to read, and a rhythm to life that keeps him grounded.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming MTV Uutiset, one of Finland’s leading national news broadcasters, to our eSAF production pilot facility in Espoo. On last night’s 10 o’clock news, our team proudly demonstrated how biogenic CO₂, renewable electricity, and green hydrogen come together in our modular system to create synthetic crude oil. Together with our partners Finnair, Fortum, Finavia, and ABB, we’ve now produced Finland’s and one of Europe’s first eSAF feedstocks — a critical milestone toward cleaner skies and a fossil-free future. Milestone achieved in scaling eSAF production. Today, our eSAF pilot unit was transported to #VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Here, we will optimize the production process and produce the first batches of electro-synthetic aviation fuel (eSAF) directly from CO₂. This marks a crucial step in proving not only the technical feasibility of eSAF production but also the viability of a new value chain for sustainable aviation fuels. By integrating renewable electricity, captured CO₂, and advanced conversion technologies, we are laying the foundation for a scalable pathway toward carbon-neutral aviation.
