The Michigan Angel Collective is a high-velocity angel syndicate backing the boldest early-stage founders across Michigan. We unite local capital and conviction to fund ventures that will define the region’s next decade. As part of the United States Angel Collective, MAC delivers fast, founder-aligned investing with clear decisions, streamlined diligence, and one-check simplicity. We invest in 10–12 pre-seed and seed-stage companies annually, focused on Michigan-based or Michigan-connected startups.

Midwest House is special to me. The moment I touched down in Austin for my first SXSW, overwhelmed and excited, I hit up Ted Velie and and he said come through. From that moment on I had a home base to take it all in. Those first couple days I met tons of people, not just from Michigan, but many of my venture heroes from around the country like Felecia Hatcher and Candice Matthews Brackeen. (Shout out to James Chapman for bringing the vibes and connection at Black Founders Brunch!) This was 2022, and I was beginning to shape what @Venture313 would look like…I’ll share a blog post I wrote on that later. Seriously, I could write an entire book on how this platform has impacted my work. It’s definitely helped lay the foundation for what I’m doing now with Black Bottom Ventures, including working with my homie Wolf Starr to launch Michigan Angel Collective. Thanks for inviting me on this podcast Ted, and for your continued ecosystem leadership. Excited for all the things we’ll continue to build together.
